Owner description: Daydream Island’s amazing Living Reef is a must see on the island. Located at the entrance to the resort, it is one of the world’s largest man-made living coral reef lagoons and features more than 80 species of marine fish and 50 species of coral. This microcosm of the Great Barrier Reef continues to capture the imagination of tourists young and old; with guests having the opportunity to hand feed resident stingrays, sharks and barramundi.

This was our 6th visit to DayDream & you would think we would be sick of the same old thing, but no. We returned for our wedding anniversary( 43) and confirmed this to be the place to
spend a special week together.
The staff ,food, facilities etc were all excellent--as usual and I have no hesitation in giving the resort my personal recommendation.
We will be back next year.

We visited Daydream for the day and the kids loved the living reef. There were sharks, stingray, lots of different fish, at least two different types of starfish, sea cucumbers and the kids especially loved 'finding Nemo' in the anemone!

My son and I found it very interesting and we got to hold a star fish and cucumber ,feed the sting rays and other fish .

we learnt alot about the reef

so glad we had the experience, my son spoke to the lovely lady on the other side of the Island when she was feeding and she was very happy to chat and explain more about marine life to us

What a fantastic attraction!!!! It is hard to believe that this is part of the resort and you are not charged to view it. It is absolutely awesome. The fish feeding is conducted daily - again at no charge to watch - although you can do the hands on activity for a small cost and get to hand feed the rays and the fish. This is a must-see attraction if you are anywhere near Daydream Island. The staff are very informative and passionate about the living reef.

We chose Daydream Island over other Whitsunday Islands because of the Living Reef. Our animal loving son (age 6) was able to get in the reef and feed (de-barbed) stingrays and spend a morning with the Marine Biologists. Walking past the reef several times a day gave us constant entertainment, being able to see fish, sting-rays, sharks, sea stars, sea cucumbers and more. There is a large pool outside the Fish Bowl restaurant so we could watch the fish while we ate. We also went to fish feeding - both the public display and the private tour - and the kids got to help with the public fish feeding. The Living Reef is an exciting part of Daydream Island and a great asset.
