Owner description: Daydream Island’s amazing Living Reef is a must see on the island. Located at the entrance to the resort, it is one of the world’s largest man-made living coral reef lagoons and features more than 80 species of marine fish and 50 species of coral. This microcosm of the Great Barrier Reef continues to capture the imagination of tourists young and old; with guests having the opportunity to hand feed resident stingrays, sharks and barramundi.

“Family holiday to Daydream Island”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

My QLD Holiday organised a fantastic trip for my family to Daydream Island. Our consultant was extremely helpful with the constant requests, changes and assistance with all of our requirements for our holiday and help to ensure that everything was as expected. The staff on Daydream Island where always ready and available to help with any requests at any time and extremely accommodating for our children and other families that we met also. Our sons loved the Living reef, as did we and also the tropical Oasis swimming pools which where amazing. There was always something to do for adults and kids, and we all had a fantastic experience. Our My Holiday package also included some fantastic extra tours to the reef and the famous Whitehaven beach as well as Bonus travel dollars towards Island expenses which helped to ensure that we could make the most of our holiday. Thankyou to Lyndal, our My Holiday consultant for giving our family a fabulous family holiday.

“Pretty cool”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Definitely worth a look, nice way to see a lot of marine life up close, especially if your snorkelling trip isn't too successful. The cost of having an experience though seemed a bit rich.

“Best thing about Daydream Island”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The living reef was amazing to stand and watch. I am an animal lover so I am bias to this. But this reef was the best thing about the resort, it offered big and little kids the chance to see many tropical fish, rays and sharks that they might not be able to see otherwise.

“Day Dream Isalnd”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

We have just returned from a 5 night family trip to Day Dream Island.
Positive: Kids loved: the many pools - various sizes and depths, outdoor cinema (held every second night) and looking at the reefs with sting rays and sharks. Main foyer has WiFi for the electronic gadgets.
Negative: Food (when available) was very expensive e.g buffet $69 adult. There is very little option for food and I strongly suggest that parents bring lots of snacks, Vegemite, crackers with zip lock bags etc for their kids to snack on and grab whatever you can from the breakfast buffet. No air conditioning (so quite humid) in main eating area and foyer which made it uncomfortable to eat and stay around for kids to play electronic gadgets etc where the WIFI was. We felt that most staff were not very well informed of procedures and simple information such as "where is the closest toilet?" we found ourselves asking many times "Does anybody know anything around here? " The other disappointment was the fact that there was no room service or much opened at night even for a coffee so quite often you were left searching for a snack or food. Overall we still had fun as we travelled with good friends and were quite happy to swim each day, however we would definitely not return nor suggest Day Dream Island to friends. When you can go to a place like Fiji (and we have) for much the same price if not cheaper and receive the BEST service and facilities, it makes no sense to spend money and visit Day Dream Island.

“disappointed”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

On our visit, I was somewhat disappointed this year on the Living Reef. It was old,, dated, in need of a revamp. I last saw the Living Reef 4 yrs ago and it was absolutely beautiful. Don't know why the standard has slipped. Daydream Island however, remains the most peaceful, beautiful island you could ever wish to visit.
