In the afternoon near Mermaids restaurant which has a great location near one of the many lagoon swimming pools and adjacent to the beach. Tame curlews strut on their spindly legs quietly between the tables hoping for a treat. The food at Mermaids is fantastic with something delicious and affordable for every diner. The child's birthday party at the next table was well catered for. There is both indoor and al fresco dining under the stars.

The two buffet dinners we had in the main dining room were expensive and unexceptional..

The buffet breakfasts were fantastic, catering for healthy eaters with a choice of yogurts including bircher muesli. If you preferred to concoct your own there was a large selection of dried fruits, nuts and seeds plus canned berries and fresh fruits. Those who liked a hearty, hot breakfast were well catered for also.

We were impressed by the adults only dining room for those who prefer to eat in peace.

Our large room was light and airy with a wonderful view over the turquoise sea and near by islands. The reception/lounge is very spacious and bright with huge, colorful tropical fish hanging from the ceiling high above.
.
Daydream has two "living reefs" on the island with coral, sharks, stingrays and other smaller shallow water reef fish. There are informative talks and hand feeding sessions every day and if you want to get up close and personal, which the children loved, that is catered for too.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the ground floor have their view obstructed by the bushes, go for a higher floor

We have just returned(march 2013) from 7 nights at the Daydream Island Resort & Spa booked through My Qld Holiday. Everything went off without a hitch from the time we left until it was time to come home. The resort is a bit dated but our room(3211) was clean & comfy & was tidied daily. The grounds are immaculately groomed & the pools are clean & inviting, especially cocktails at the swim up bar!. We found the food at Waterfalls really disappointing as it was often cold & tasteless including the brekkie buffet. The Boathouse bakery wasn't much better. Fishbowl had reasonable quality pub fare & Mermaids couldn't be faulted, the food was fantastic,(thanks to Jessica for looking after us). All the prices on the Island for everything were quite high & people make excuses that its an island but so is Hawaii & we didnt spend anywhere near the amounts for food & drinks while there so we were glad we took some snacks from home. We had great weather during our stay & the aircon worked well. We did the Great Barrier reef tour as well as Whitehaven beach,(through Cruise Whitsundays) both definately worth seeing. For us 7 nights was too long & would recommend 5 nights max. The Island was pretty full during our stay & there were lots of kids about but mostly happy & well behaved so we weren't bothered.Had a wonderful massage at the spa & would recommend it to all first timers. All the staff were helpful & cheerful so in general this is a great place to have a family vacation.

We had a wonderful week at Daydream. I had read some reviews and was concerned about the food, but my concerns were baseless. We loved the buffet brekky, and the meals at Mermaids were delicious. The spa treatments were a real treat! My husband organised a surprise private dinner at Lover's Cove, where we watched the most beautiful sunset. Top marks go to Braden, our waiter for the night. We had a spa room, which was clean and spacious. Even with the windy weather, we had a truly lovely week.

We went to Daydream Island Resort and Spa for a week in March 2013 and we had a wonderful holiday! Yes, the resort looks a bit out dated and could use a refurbishment. And yes, you pay Island prices for food and drinks. But, in return you get the awfully pretty Mermaids Beach and the lovely Lovers Cove to enjoy your tropical sunny holiday to the fullest! The staff is very friendly and willing to help you with anything. We forgot to change the lens of our underwater camera and our charger as well (nothing like packing when you're hung over :-P) and the staff helped us out with all of it. They even didn't charge us when we left the balcony door open and cockatoos came in and ate everything from the mini bar (which they warn you about up front, so it really was our fault). For lunch I would recommend the bakery and for dinner Mermaids Restaurant overlooking the Three Mermaids. To be honest, the other restaurants are not that great. Fish Bowl was ok, but for almost the same price I would definitely go to Mermaids instead. We joined the Pizza and Pasta Buffet at Waterfalls and it was awful. Do not go here! The pasta tasted like plastic and the same goes for the pizza. The only thing remotely edible were the desserts. Just go to Mermaids Restaurants, the food is delicious and the view even better! We particularly liked the eye fillet, the pumpkin and ricotta ravioli and the Frangelico brulee :-) Our favourite spot was Lovers Cove, beautifully overlooking the water. You can see the fish from the boardwalk in the water and if you had enough sun for the day, the trees give enough shade for you to stay until the sun goes down. The wallabies on the island (there are plenty!) are very cute and not at all shy. Don't feed them, although they'll look at you with very cute puppy eyes. We were lucky enough to see a mamma wallaby with a Joey in her pouch. It was so cute! They mainly come out at dawn and eat the grass of the lawn, so you don't have to go far to spot them. Also, a few hang around at Lovers Cove all day. The resort spa is really good, best massage I ever had! And afterwards they give you a champagne and you can sit on their balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. We had a great relaxing time! Keep an eye out for My QLD Holiday deals, they are very good value. Our deal included a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a trip to Whitehaven Beach (so pretty!), flights, 7 nights of accommodation, a $250 dollar food credit and a $250 spa credit.

Travelling with 2 adults and 2 kids (6 & 4), we combined a 5 night 'My QLD Holiday' Daydream package with 4 nights at 'Reef-Escape' apartments on Hamilton Island. 'My QLD Holiday' were very accommodating of all my changes to their standard package offer, and all 4 of us had flights, breakfast, full day GBR and 1/2 day Whitehaven included.

Daydream is very beautiful, and really fun for the kids with outdoor movies, very cool mini golf course, daily activities, and amazing swimming pools. Buffet breakfast is great with plenty of choice, and lovely setting next to their reef/lagoon. I recommend filling up at breakfast as food is at 'island' prices, so we ate food that we brought with us for lunch and then forked out at dinner. Thank goodness we also packed our own alcohol (nothing wrong with some nice cask wine packed in the suitcase!), as the prices were way too high for a drink.

5 nights was enough to do everything we wanted, and the extra 4 nights at Hamilton rounded off the holiday nicely.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying for the amazing outlook over the ocean.

We recently visited daydream on a five day package deal. The resort itself was a quite dated. Although the rooms were quite nice . Clean .and staff friendly . The big problem with this resort is the price once you are there. Everything was almost double the price you would expect to pay. I love a beer the cheapest I found there was $7.50 a can. Food and activity prices were way out there also. Certainly will not return.

Room Tip: Stick to the mainland. Come out to islands on day trips

We recently visited Daydream Island Resort and Spa booking through My QLD Holiday.
It was simply amazing, we had 7 nights on the island with one full day and one half day cruise, all booked with My Qld Holiday, The room was clean and tidy with fantastic views, Staff friendly and helpful, Food well there wasn't a shortage and was all to a very high standard... not to mention Yummy!! and there was always something to do, activities running all day for both adults and children. But the best part was the views and snorkelling off lovers cove.
Now back to work :( ... to plan the next getaway. :)
Enjoy Holiday Makers!!!
