Must see as the sand blow will obliterate it in about 10 years or so they predict. When walking back up it is easier if you walk behind in someone's footsteps (shhhh!!)

Lake Wabby is a very beautiful freshwater lake .Its surrounded by a sand blow which is slowly creaping into the lake at about 1 metre a year. Its a great run down the sand dune into the lake , but be careful of the shallow water on the waters edge. 3 ways to get there . Walk in from the surf beach throught the bush and over the sand blow, takes about 40 minutes 1 way. Drive in from Cornwall break Rd; and do a 10 minute walk from the car park to the lookout. Also you can do a walk from the lookout down to the lake. But its very much a uphill walk all the way back. Worth going to Lake Wabby.

The kids loved Lake Wabby! It is being overtaken by a dune that sharply drops to the lake edge. We met some people that brought a boogie (body) board and we had a blast dune surfing! Bring a boogie board and approach from the lookout side of the lake if you want a shorter hike (15 minutes).

It just seemed very surreal with the sand drift built up and hovering over the lake. It almost felt lunar the way the vast sand drift appeared. I envisioned Mad Max riding over the dunes. The lake was very cool and deep. Try to see it at a time when there would be the least amount of other visitors. By far this was my favorite lake. The bathroom facilities are at the front of the trail. There are no facilities at the lake which is a fair hike away.

The trek from the beach to Lake Wabby is about a 40 minute walk from the beach. However it is the most amazing lake. It is surrounded by sand dunes and the water is refreshing after a long walk. Make sure you run down the dunes and dive straight into the water as it is the best way to finish off a day.
