“Horrible!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

very very poor!!! stayed here for 2 nights which was meant to be a great weekend getaway for myself and my partner, and all i can say is thank god Fraser Island pulled out all the stops to make it a great weekend because this place certainly did not! Arrived and checked into a very run down and tired old resort, fixtures in room were very old and in need of a new look or maybe just a good clean. Went for breakfast the next day in the restaurant which was completely empty but still stood up the front and waited for 5minutes for staff to come out of the kitchen and seat us, only to pay $33 for a undercooked breakfast buffet. That night we came back and went down to the shop/petrol station to get something for dinner and breakfast the next morning as we did not want to eat in restaurant again, only to pay $5.80 for a packet of biscuits, $6 for a bottle of juice, $4.30 for a bowl of cereal you would buy in Woolworth's for $1.10 which we later found out just as we were about to eat, was nearly 3months out of date (which staff I'm sure were aware of) whilst still marking up ridiculously and putting on shelf. Staff were very unhelpful and all in all just not a very nice place. Certainly not worth the money they charge for a room per night. will never go back.

Room Tip: Try kingfisher if you are looking for somewhere to stay. beautiful resort and staff are very friendl...

Our two bedroom unit was spacious, reasonably clean, and had good views over the pool. Many of the fixtures and fittings were very tired and in need of maintenance. For example the vanity in the bathroom had a large unsightly crack at the front. This had obviously been there for a long time. The kitchen was spacious and equipped with a meagre assortment of cheap very worn crockery and utensils. The tap in the kitchen had once been shining chrome but now what chrome was left was dull with much exposed tarnished brass. The gas stove had piezo ignition that no longer worked but we were supplied with four single matches. We had friends staying in other adjacent units who all had the same stove issue.

The resort power is supplied from diesel generators which were located relatively close to the rear of our unit. The constant drone of the diesels was ever present. A lot our tour operators use the resort for both accommodation and for meals. At the rear of our units was the bus washing facility which, in the afternoons, was in constant use by a procession of tour busses. In summary not quiet for a relaxing afternoon snooze.

The restaurant was large and capable of seating large crowds. There was a smaller a la carte section which actually had tablecloths. A group of five of us decided to dine in the a la carte section but were told we could not do so because one member of our party had ordered the buffet. The quite short a la carte menu included hamburgers and steak sandwiches. The mind boggles at the inflexible logic of the management. Whilst most of our meals were just OK, the buffet was truly disgusting. The presentation was not inviting but the taste was terrible. I cannot recall ever having a worse buffet meal. One would expect that in such a resort, a reputable and capable chef would be entrusted with the task of creating culinary delights for guests. Sadly this was just another thing that slipped by management.

I will never return to this resort. Fraser Island is a fantastic place to visit and Eurong Beach Resort would make a great backpackers but it is way overpriced for what it offers.

Spent a night at Eurong Beach and gotta say its a great place. Right on the beach and has EVERYTHING, including a naughty bakery..
Food at Restaurant was excellent as was the buffet lunch. Was great to see the GM actively involved with things and had the pleasure of meeting him.
Room was great, very roomy and loved the sound of the ocean to get to sleep by. As a local Hervey Bay person, cannot believe we don't get over more often.
Recommended ++

Room Tip: Obviously 3rd floor and overlooking the pool is a great set of units. There are 3 large blocks to ch...

The rooms were large, clean and comfortable but very dated. The location is perfect as it is situated right on the beach! Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served as a buffet and the food was really good. There is plenty of variety and you can have as much as you want. The only downfall was there was no entertainment after dinner so we headed to the beach bar which to be fair was poor. The trip is jam packed so you don't spend a lot of time at the resort!

Great to see Irish travellers out and about enjoying Fraser Island. Thank you for all your feedback re your time with us. I have passed your comments regarding the Beach Bar to our GM and Food and Beverage team - we run a nightly program with pool comps, karaoke and trivia nights, but it sounds like we haven't hit the mark suring your stay. Enjoy the rest of your Australian adventure.

For our overnight stay on the island we expected permanent tents on something similar, not a full-blown resort such as this. Admittedly it has aged but still has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay which is a surprise considering the logistic difficulties involved in establishing and maintaining such a place.

Great to read you enjoyed your time with us on Fraser Island - it's a pretty spectacular place, especially in spring when we have the wildflowers in bloom, our short-beaked echidnas out and about on the western beach, the return of our Asian migratory birds and dingo pups venturing out exploring from their dens.
