this place is a little off the neaten track but worth it if you like hardly any tourists and the peace and tranquility

The whole concept of "largest SAND ISLAND"in the world underpins everything that Fraser has to offer. This lake is pristine, changing with the winds, changes in colour as well.......! Just magic!

After being mobbed on the tiny beach at Lake McKenzie by hoards of noisy backpackers, it was such a pleasant relief to visit Lake Birrabeen.

Hardly anyone else there, the lovely white beach was much longer and the water also was beautiful, clear and swimmable.

Would certainly revisit.

Great lake for a swim, brown but clear tea coloured water.
Be careful of Goannas in the bushland.

Visiting Fraser Island is an adventure, and a swim in Lake Birrabeen is a must do.
This lake is not as famous as Lake McKenzie, but is even more beautiful.
Cristal clear water, many different water colours and the white sand makes this lake unique.
Don't miss it!
