Quite remarkably the Central Station Rainforest is growing out of sand. The mind baffles as to how this is so, but it is. The fresh water Wanggoolba Creek running through the rainforest has itself a remarkable tale coming from deep within Fraser Island from the Pile Valley. The water is so very crystal clear and fresh. A stroll along the trail is recommended for those fit enough to do so.

Stopped in on a tour for a nice walk of around 45 minutes. It's really quite pleasant and not too strenuous. There are around 130 steps towards the end but otherwise it's great.

We went for a long walk through this sand rainforest which was unlike any other rainforest I have visited. Lots of huge trees, the strangler trees are cool. Was oddly eerie you kind of feel like snakes or something might jump out on you....Saw some cool plant with the most pretty coloured pink and purple berries on them too.

It really is amazing to see a genuine rainforest growing out of a sand based soil - just another marvel from Fraser Island. The creek fed from a sand filtered spring is also amazing as it is so clear you would think your looking through glass. There are a number of walks you can undertake from here. Well worth a couple of hours visit to this location - it may be hot outside but the rainforest can be quite cool. There are camping facilities nearby and there are some interpretive buildings so you can see what it was like in the early days as well as how the forest formed.

Walked the 1.7 km track along the creek , it was clean, clear, peaceful and nature at its best
Beautiful ferns, interesting fungi spores, a must see and do
We were lucky to visit at a quiet time, with just a dozen people quietly walking through
