Cristal clear waters, a long stretch of sand and the Maheno shipwreck... a gorgeous scenery. Visitors are not allowed to touch the boat in order to preserve it. A photographer´s paradise.

Fabulous wreck. We went at low tide which meant we could walk right up to the wreck. Even in the salt water it is still so we'll preserved. We went at 8am so we were lucky enough to get in before all the day trippers, I would highly recommend this. If your fishing you'll want to take your time, but if your just having a look like we were, you'd only need 30 mins really. Our primary school aged boys loved walking the length of the wreck, definitely a stop over that can be enjoyed by all ages. For anyone not familiar with Fraser, at this site there are no facilities (water, toilets, food etc), however the Eurong township is app 30 mins to the south. The wreck reminded me of when the Cherry Venture was still on the North Shore.

The shipwreck of the Maheno is right on the beach. You can walk around the whole ship and get some great photos. It is starting to deteriorate fast as it is constantly submerged in salt water and the shifting sand of Fraser Island is slowly starting to cover the ship.

The Maheno wreck took my breath away on my visit to Fraser Island.. I am a watercolour artist, and took lots of photos of the different angles of the wreck. So many untold stories and atmosphere about this wreck.
While we were there, a fisherman had positioned himself in a trough in the water created by the wreck and we watched him catch some fish there.
Awesome !!!

This is a spectacular shipwreck that is easy to locate right on the beach with the sea lapping around the hull at low tide.
A 4x4 is essential and makes an enjoyable ride along 75mike beach!
