Owner description: Want to explore a shipwreck, dive on the Great Barrier Reef and visit a rainforest, all in one day? Situated in the city centre, the Museum showcases life in the tropics from dinosaurs to modern day, with our travelling exhibitions and local displays adding a touch of the unexpected. The Museum is family-friendly and has free activities and tours every day including a great activity where you can help fire a ships cannon (at 11am and 2.30Pm daily, covered shoes required). Our Cafe is open from 10am to 3pm daily and serves great coffee, milkshakes, fresh sandwiches, wraps, slices and more. There are gluten-free options as well. And we've got FREE WiFi!

School excursion planned for young kids. we were approached by a staff member who read us the riot act before we even started our tour with the children. wanting us to be quiet, although there is loud banging and construction work going on!!! There is also a play ground at the museum - how do you keep children quiet. If you wanted the museum to be quiet and not used, then dont have a play ground... very disappointed considering the whole group of children are great kids and on their best behaviour.

This takes more than a day. There are so many interactive displays and so much to digest from the material on view, including the ship and the way people lived on it.

Wonderful displays about life in the tropics and the history of North Queensland. The staff are wonderful and the cafe is great as well.

Went against local advice and visited the Museum. It was most informative and my family enjoyed the experience. Great displays.

We learned a lot about the Pandora, which sank off the Queensland coast, during our visit. The exhibit was well designed to guide visitors through it. We also enjoyed the reef exhibit.
