“A beautiful "Queenslander"”

What a fantastic place to stay. The hosts Russel and Iva could not be nmore helpful. We were greeted on arrival with freshly brewed tea and home baked cake. The room was incredible spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished. We were offered recommendations of where to go in Toensville and offered lifts to town in the evening and to the airport on our last day. Breakfast is a must, delicately prepared platters of exotic fruit, cereals, youghurt, fruit juice all taken on the veranda watching an array of birds feeding from the trees around the garden. If you are lucky you will see the fruit bats on the mango tree at night. Getting back to the hotel in the evening we were greeted with tea and cake and complimentary port or sherry. Next to being at home I cant think of a place I would rather stay.

Classique B and B

I had arranged to stay at Classique B and B during the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville. My host was kind enough to meet me at the airport always a plus for a woman travelling alone.

At delightful Classique B and B I met his charming wife Iva. Iva and Russell proved to be gracious hosts nothing was too much trouble The federation style house had all the charming details of a heritage style home, high pressed metal ceilings, overhead fans and antique furnishings. Each of the three bedrooms had a private ensuite and air conditioning.

On the deck outside I would start the day with a delicious breakfast of local jams and tropical fruit looking out on the imposing Castle Hill. Russell’s international chef’s background was evident in his preparation of his delicious meals.

As opposed to gloomy Melbourne every day was sunny with clear blue sky. Russell and Iva were marvelously generous hosts

Room Tip: The Gold Room is spacious and charming

I dare say most readers of Trip Advisor travel quite a bit, we get used to the sterile, clinical motel / hotel environment where if you want something you have to ask or book, things fall into the “too hard” basket etc. Well our trip to Townville and stay at Classique B&B was totally the opposite, from the moment you arrive to the second you leave Iva & Russel make you feel you are distant relatives visiting. The Heritage house has a wonderful character, high ceilings, period furnishings that “posh” rustic charm. On arrival we took a brief tour of the house and got a real key, not a plastic swipe card a Real Key that had that old mechanical Click when used!
We thought we had chosen good places to dine during our stay via Trip Advisor reviews and omitted ones with poor reviews, but as we talked we found Russel was a Chef who had worked around the world and had us changing our restaurants and if you read the other reviews they turned out good choices.
After a comfortable first nights sleep we awoke to a picture perfect, colourful Tropical Breakfast, with coffee how you wanted it, local jams, local fruit and on the back deck with Castle Hill as the back drop added to the care factor others miss out on. Something you will need to get used to if like us we spend so much time in Hotels etc that Iva & Russel want to look after you, they want to ensure your stay is the best it could possibly be, nothing seems a problem to make your stay a memorable one, there effort goes above and beyond the norm. We stayed 3 nights and without a second thought will stay again when we visit Townsville next, totally enjoyed the attention, conversations and warmth we received.

Room Tip: The Gold one is the largest and at the front of the building

We stayed at this place on our way to Cairns and it was a wonderful experience. The B&B is conveniently located and upon arrival lovely hosts warmly welcomed us. The house is spacious and charming. Very clean rooms and bathrooms and Ivy (the host) helped us with our laundry. Make sure you stay for breakfast! Everything was fresh and delicious. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

My husband and I planned to stay only one night in this beautful B&B, however after enjoying our stay so much the first time, we came back for a second night. The B&B is beautifully decorated with extremely comfortable beds and a great location just a few minutes from the town center. The hospitality was above and beyond, Iva and Russell really helped us out and went out of there way to make sure we have everything we need. We highly recommend this B&B to everyone!!

We recently stayed for two nights at the Classique on a hectic trip around Australia. We travelled around a lot and staying here was like a little holiday from our holiday!
Russell and Iva were kindness itself and looked after us so well - nothing was too much trouble.
We knew we were in for a treat when we arrived. The house is just beautiful and we were invited to sit on the peaceful deck and recuperate with fresh coffee and homemade cake.
Our bedroom was lovely, with a great bathroom and much-needed air-con, and Russell prepares the best breakfast you will have on your whole holiday!
The town centre is a short stroll away and we were very well advised on activities and places to eat, of which there are many.
Iva took us up to the top of Castle Hill from which there is a spectacular view of the town and beyond, and both her and Russell went above and beyond the call of duty making sure we got to other places too.
Iva even helped me out with some washing as I was running out of clothes. Please don't expect this service - I'm just illustrating that they will do anything they can to help make your stay perfect.
If you go to Townsville, don't stay in a noisy, faceless hotel. Go and stay at Classique for the ultimate bed and breakfast experience!

We ran a successful B & B on the Hawkesbury River (Sydney NSW). We were thrilled with the positive feedback we received from our guests, we were told they thought we ran the best
B & B they had experienced. Well, we have now stayed at the best B & B which is Classique Townsville!! Russell and Iva are two of the nicest people you will ever meet and nothing is too much trouble for them as they are a very professional couple. The breakfast is a beautiful experience indeed. Also Russell cooks a beautiful BBQ on request which includes various selections of cuts of meat including Kangaroo which is all cooked to perfection. Russell's chef background comes out in this unique meal, scrumptious!
We have stayed at Classique 3 times and we are visiting Townsville on a semi regular basis and we will continue to stay with them.
There are no negatives with Classique which operates from a beautiful old Queenslander home.
Congratulations for running a most unique and friendly place, we wish you continued success.
