“Beautiful. Interesting. Relaxing.”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

I was interested in the reviews of a person called KRock who said the Palmetum was rather small. I also noticed this person said the same about Reef HQ Aquarium in another review. Always a pity when the size of a feature is the main consideration, as size does not equate quality and diversity. The Palmetum is in fact excellent and highly recommended. The tea rooms are very pleasant too. Also there is a pedestrian and cyclist bridge over a creek behind the Palmetum where it's often possible to see turtles.

“Pleasant afternoon out”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

If you need to chill out, take an hr or two and experience the beautiful gardens of the Palmetum. Easy flat level walk mostly paved walkways, interesting features and also rememberence Monument to townsville based Soldiers. Great old building cafe for lunch afternoon tea etc, quite pleasant, or take your own to enjoy in the park

“Palmetum - a palm garden with extras”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

The world's largest collection of palms, arranged by growing zone. Take a stroll around the lake for open, dry climates, with a bonus cactus and succulent collection on a low hill. After this loop walk (wheelchair accessible path) have a cool drink in the cafe, housed in a heritage building, and look at the factual child friendly displays, including an example of the world's largest seed. Then head into the rainforest zone, with its Japanese zigzag bridge, and other cool walks over the tributary creek, ending up at a view over Ross River.
This is a great place to stop over with a caravan, with dedicated parking spaces, and a good chance to stretch your legs and see something different.

“Palmetum of Townsville”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Palmetum is an ideal spot to take a leisurely stroll among the many varieties of palms or just enjoy a meal or coffee on the verandah of the restaurant overlooking the park. It is also a delight for young children to expend their excess energy while the parents enjoy the scenery.

“While small botanical park, it gives a good feel for the rainforest type environment in the area”
Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

This is a small botanical park on the edge of the city itself. It has a good rain forest exhibit and a nice cafe and is well worth an hour or so with family or friends.
