What a fabulous place to unwind, grab a seat and some serenity and something to eat if you choose. The dardens are just so relaxing: it's like you are miles away but in fact about 2 minutes from a major shopping centre. Love it!

Great for bird watching and photography. A large variety of birds due to the different habitats and gardens, saw some very friendly black cockatoos while there. Lots of interesting plants to photograph also. Well worth a visit. Tip. Go when the aloe vera is flowering to see the sun birds and other nectar lovers.

Thought this looked like a nice spot to stop for 5 minutes and stretch our legs during a recent driving holiday to Cairns ended up staying for 4 hours! This place was beautiful, tropical rainforest, desert gardens and everything in between. This place is a tropical paradise and I highly recommend stopping if traveling through Townsville.

If visiting or holidaying in Townsville, Palmetum is a must see! It's one of the largest palm collections in the world.
If you have kids, (or if you don't!) go visit the cheeky turtles in the lagoon, or take a stroll and see the birds and wallabies in the Savannah Habitat. It's a beautiful garden, one of Townsville's best.
Highly recommended you take a relaxed walk through the Palmetum. One of Townsville's best kept secrets has finally been exposed! Have fun.

The gardens here are very nice and well kept. I'd advise you to bring some mozzie repellent, especially toward dusk. There’s plenty of space for the kids to run around and you can even bring the dog! Bring a picnic mat as there aren’t many tables and chairs to sit and eat on.
