“Absolute Luxury!”
Reviewed September 25, 2008

We have just returned from Chevron and woule recommend it to everyone! We had 2 rooms one on the 8th floor and the other on the 19th. Both were immaculately presented! We booked directly with the owner who arranged for a guided tour of the property when we arrived. The property is very secure and you need a fob tag to access all of the towers. The outside pool was rather cool so we didn't swim in it but the surroundings were beautiful. There are 2 other pools both heated -one indoor and the other outside. The one outside has a shallow end which was suitable for my 18month old son to swim in.
The apartments were both 2 bedrooms with new furniture and very clean. They both had 2 balconies overlooking the canal. I felt very safe with my son on both balconies as the railngs and glass are very secure.
The location is ideal with Coles downstairs and other speciality shops. It is right next to Caville avenue and walking distance to the beach. My mother in law needed to go the doctor the day we arrived and there is one either downstairs or one around the corner below the Holiday Inn with operates until 11pm.
It is a very luxurious property. It is cheaper if you book through the owner of the apartment, however i have heard that some privately owned apartments may not by up to scratch but ours definitely were immaculate! We booked through Vickey her website is www.holidaysgoldcoast.net.au so you can check it out yourself.

Hi all.

Basically I picked this apartment/hotel place because it was either chevron's or circle on cavill for 2 bedroom apartment places. I would have went to Legends hotel which I liked although their prices were a bit high so I decided to get a 2 bedroom apartment at Chevron's to try something new and price was ok.

I went through escapenow.com.au and paid $600 for 3 nights. We checked in late and we had to pay $30 after 8pm because it wasn't direct with the hotel but its like another company leasing out the apartment so we didn't check in the hotel reception, but someone met us there.

We arrived by car and the person led us to the wrong parking and then eventually we found out which parking we were supposed to go to. The parking roads are pretty tight so that was really annoying.

Basically this hotel/apartment has 3 buildings and we at the main entrance. Actually I don't know whats it called because it was confusing which building was called what. In order to get to the shops, we had to go to level 5, cross the main garden to get to the other building, then go level 1 and to the shops which was annoying.

The main garden on level 5 has a nice grass area and a pool area which a sandy beach which was very nice although the weather was a bit chilly when we went out for the swim so we opted for the outdoor pool which was heated as the indoor heated pool was going through maintenance and was not hot at all.

So back to our apartment, was hoping to high class furniture, plasma's the whole lot but it was plain in my view. Just the normal beds and they didn't have any blanket. There were no manuals for the dishwashing machine (we normally hand wash at home) so we didn't know where to put the powder into the washing machine.

Ok lets talk about the bathroom sinks, everytime you put the lever up, the initial force is strong and the water goes onto the sink and then reflects to you, very annoying, had to only slightly change the lever a small bit just to get small water pressure. Also there wasn't no soap plates provided to where we could put the soap.

The apartment had foxtel or austar but we couldn't put it on for some reason. The air-conditioning for the unit was good being able to choose 16C to 32C when required.

Ok location, it is pretty good, pretty much right in the CBD itself and a 5-10 minute walk to cavill avenue / the shopping centre. Also I found it dissapointing that Coles which was downstairs closed at 9pm during weekdays and 5-6pm on weekends. Because we came on the weekends and went out during the day, when we came back home then if we wanted something from coles it would be closed and forced to buy at the convenient stores outside instead. Where I live, Coles is open to 12am everynight which is very handy if you need groceries late in the night.

Apart from that, I don't think i'll stay at Chevron's unless I wanted a 2bedroom apartment. I'll stick with Legends hotel just in case

We stayed at the Chevron Renaissance for 7 nights in late May to early June and found it to be O.k. Having said that, we are planning another trip to the Gold Coast and the Chevron Renaissance is unlikely to appear on our itinerary. So here’s the run down:

Location: Pretty good if you are looking for somewhere central to Surfers Paradise. The shopping complex underneath was fairly handy, especially the supermarket, but of course the trade off is the noise….we were located on the 17th floor with an excellent view of the beach…and the ever present sound of the traffic & other holiday makers.

Pools: A choice of 3 great looking pools which we really didn’t make much use of due to inclement weather…though we did visit the heated indoor pool once we quickly got out as a) the operators obviously had a different interpretation of the concept of heated (it was actually rather cold) b) given the poor weather the indoor pool was seeing quite a bit of use in total and the cleaning routine wasn’t quite up to scratch…lots of delicious looking particles floating about. I’ve no doubt that in the warmer months the outdoor pools would be great…but with the cooler weather they were of no value.

Tour Desk: Ok, we got our theme park tickets there saved a couple of dollars….

Parking: Good….though I suspect that if we had been there at a “peak” time it may have been a different story. But during our stay we were always able to get a pretty good spot.

Reception & Other Staff: Not so good….while there were no major dramas at check-in the reception desk staff were not particularly helpful or friendly and when we rang down to request that they send someone up to clean the bathrooms which did not seem to have been cleaned after the last occupants they never turned up. Finally, when we went to check out reception was painful…..

The Apartment: Over all, a little cramped, but generally clean and in good condition with the notable exception of the bathrooms. They were a tad foul…..the tiles in both were covered in hair. We ended up cleaning them ourselves as, despite our request to reception for a cleaner to attend to it, no one ever turned up.

So overall it was just O.k…..I do feel that for the money you’re not getting either great value or service so on our next trip we will try somewhere else….we had a great holiday, all the theme parks were fantastic, shopping etc was great…but really the Chevron Renaissance didn’t add anything to our experience….

  • Liked — The location...though realy there are any number of hotels in the same area
  • Disliked — The hair covered bathrooms

I went to 'Towers of Chevron' after going on a workplace famil last year. I am a travel agent and viewed over 40 properties throughout the Gold Coast. 2 properties stuck out and one was the 'Towers of Chevron' - So it was only fitting that I stay there for a girls weekend!! The rooms were amazing - We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. We entered th apartment and simultaniously all 5 of us went 'oohhh, oooooh, ahhhh!!" - Beautiful polished floors, marble bench tops - modern furnishings and the most beautiful views of the beach & city. We really did enjoy having breakfast on the balcony. The girls absolutely loved the place. It is right next door to a Coles Supermarket so save a few of those precious $$$'s and buy breakfast & snacks there (milk too, you'll need coffee after all of the partying the Gold Coast has to offer!!). Also, just downstairs is SHOPPING! Yes, that is right - a 2 minute walk across the beautiful grounds (that resemble more of a resort style feeling than apartment style) you are smack bang in the middle of Surfers Paradise. We were in between Southport & Broadbeach so only 4 minutes drive to each (can't forget to shop at Australia Fair (SP) and Pacific Fair (BB). Also just a 3 minute drive to Jupiters including waiting for traffic lights!! Check in was fast and efficiant - The rooms were very clean and tidy - The location great - free underground parking was convenient to whichever tower you were staying in - we could not have asked for more! Splash out and treat yourself - Remember that saying 'you only get what you pay for' - It's true!!!

  • Liked — Beautiful setting - Modern - Close to Shopping - Great Pool(S) - AWESOME

Stayed here in April to attend my friends wedding from Melbourne. We usually stay at Crown Towers Resort and defiantly wouldn’t have booked here if it wasn’t for all the guests staying in the same hotel.

Defiantly not a family environment. There are way too many young party goers hanging around yelling and screaming throughout the night. There were beer bottles in the foyer and carparks. There is no way I would have let my wife and young kids downstairs after 6pm. I think the issue with the location is the all the clubs are basically across the road.

Staff were rude. Room was very small. View was ok but interrupted by buildings and too loud to enjoy the balcony. Parking is very hard to find if you brining a car.

For me, I prefer to stay on the Northern end of Surfers Paradise not in the heart itself, Crown Towers I like more because its dead quiet at night so you can relax and feel safe with young children but can still walk to all the shops, cafes and each in a few minutes. If you can secure on of the renovated rooms your laughing because they are twice the size, better location and have the best facilities on the Gold Coast.

Wouldnt be staying here again.

  • Liked — Checking out and getting a good nights sleep
  • Disliked — The noise. Felt unsafe. Young people drinking in lifts and at pool. Screaming and fights downstairs
