Owner description: The three-kilometer strip of golden sand between Surfers Paradise and the Pacific Ocean is Australia's iconic beach, a postcard-perfect locale that conjures up 'paradise' to millions. Throughout the year, our beach welcomes swimmers, joggers, surfers and strollers from around the Gold Coast, around Australia and around the World. There are a few simple things you can do to ensure that your day at Surfers Paradise beach is a safe and happy one. Always swim between the red and yellow flags. If the flags aren't up, it may not safe to swim, so always ask a lifeguard if it's safe to swim if you cannot see the flags. Check for additional beach signage, as this may change every day. Read the safety warnings. Check with a lifeguard about beach and water conditions if you're not sure it's safe. Put your hand up and stay calm if you get in trouble in the water. Stay sun safe: Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Leave valuables at home or in your apartment.

Absolutely beautiful, clean beach and loved that it was always patrolled. Better for more experienced swimmers as sometimes the swell is quite rough but still a great beach

“Lifeguards ruining it for all”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

Great beach but the lifeguards ruin the fun. The beach gets shut down at the slightest hint of a few waves and the lifeguards drive up and down the beach harassing people to get away from the water. When I enquired why they were shutting the beach I was told it was "too dangerous". This was on a day that would be considered calm waters at Bondi Beach.

“Really nice”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

Take a look at the picture and you can tell what a nice beach it is. Running along the beach is wide sidewalks, a two lane road and then shops and some nice open air dining. Many high end/designer shops are nearby if you like that sort of thing. Like Prada, Coach, Cartier, Etc. We were there on a weekend as the Chinese New Year was starting. The beach was not that crowded but the restaurant/club/shopping area got crowded at night. Live music, and various street preformers were out in large numbers.
