Just returned from a week in Surfers staying at Karana Palms, got a really good deal for the week and only paid $5 a night for extra air con even tho they have fans in bedroom and lounge. Karana Palms website is very upfront about being self serviced apartments so yes they only give you enough toilet paper, soap, dishwashing liquid, coffee, tea, milk, sugar, laundry powder, linens to get you started and they are only clean your room after you've been there one week but dont people realise that this is how they manage to keep their prices down so surely thats a good a thing! Our apartment was spacious and quiet and had everything we required including full kitchen facilities and laundry. Super close to Surfers, shops and restaurants, liquor store and supermarket etc. Staff were friendly and could book shuttles and activities so that was handy.

While I found the furniture and linen clean in the room I would agree the walls, curtains etc are in need of a spring clean and the swimming pool always had the cleaner thingee in the bottom so it kinda put us off using it!

We stayed at this hotel for a week.

The only bad thing about our room was that it was not really clean....mainly lots of dust on the shelves, tv, bedside drawers, etc
Everything else was perfect! It's only 5 minutes from the beach and all the shops, including COLES supermarket. The place and the room were really quiet, we never heard noises from the other rooms. Our room was really big, good size kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. we also had a big courtyard with 6 chairs and a table.
We asked if we could use the air conditioning and didn't get charged for it.
For the tv they have FOXTEL which lets you watch lots of tv programmes, including lots of movies......
Service is friendly and unobtrusive.....
Nice and clean swimming pool which we used a couple of times....nobody was using it.
The apartments is a little 'home away from home', including towels, linen, hair drier, full size fridge with freezer, pans, cutlery.....etc etc etc
We got this hotel as part of a package deal and ended up paying really little for it.....however, would be happy to pay full price and stay here again.
We were very satisifed and would recommend this place!

If you don't mind the iron scorch marks on the carpet, or the black scuff marks up the wall or even the stains on the bed covers, and the very dirty oven then, yes, maybe you could rate it higher than a 2 star rating. There were six in my party in 3 seperate units and all the units had some issue. Ranging from holes in the fly screens to taps snapping off. I suggest management look up the definition of a 4 star resort under the Australian rating system and then adjust accordingly. Service? what service? I had to beg for extra towels and was even asked what they were for....mmmmm.???(we were there for 8 days and they only service the units weekly)again I ask you...4 star????? The location was pretty good. Oh and you had to pay extra for air con....what other 4 star resort does this? I counldn't find one....

One bedroom apartment with small kitchen. Stayed here for 7 days, 2 adults and 1 child. Average views from balcony. Dishes were filthy, maybe because there was no dishwashing liquid for previous tenant and only supplied 1 tea towel.

Certainly not 4 star accommodation. Apartments are serviced once a week so carpet gets pretty messy after a week. Washing machine and dryer are loud. Hot water doesn’t last long for showers.

On the positive side its quiet and only 5 minutes walk across the bridge to Surfers. Free secure parking under ground, and has a pool. We enjoyed our holiday very much but we would probably pay a bit more and stay somewhere else next time.

Booked last minute so got discounted rate but I feel the going-rate is reasonable for this accommodation. Stayed in a one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen/lounge opening onto balcony. Quiet location, no special views (vacant lot opposite might become a building site one day but bedroom at rear), small pool, underground parking free. Clean, most things in good working order, management leave you alone but are available if needed. Guests are required to take out their rubbish and wash up all dirty dishes before checking out which is hardly unreasonable. Short walk across the bridge to Surfer's beach/shops/cafes etc. A nice place to come home to after daily explorations if you want to be self-catering. No extra charge for my toddler which really sealed the deal for me. Some other places I was looking at wanted too much money or couldn't/wouldn't give me an answer to my query on child prices.
