“Don't do it - Be warned this place is the worst I've ever stayed at”
Reviewed February 27, 2011

This place is worst than accomodation in a third world country. Honestly it is a complete shith@le. We thought we would stay somewhere cheap and cheerful big mistake choosing this place. The rooms are filthy, I am still itching all over (severe) from the bed and have to go and see a doctor after work. The place stinks, they don't know what cleansiness is. They have warning signs for pretty much everything. You can't bring alcohol and have to buy from their bar or they will kick you out. We had to get Towels from Reception which were dirty. You have to take your linen with you when u check out. It's so bad I wanted to leave in the night but the reception was closed and could not do anything until the morning because we had the keys. I never want to see this place again let alone stay there.

unfortunately this was the only place available for us to stay and we booked over the phone without reviewing it first. it was simply appauling. we got to our room and it took us about 5 minutes just to get the door unlocked. upon entry we were greeted with beds that had just been slept in and others that hadn't been made. the boot of my car is more spacious than the rooms. after complaining to reception we were given sheets that were covered in hair and other stains. i must admit, we did have an amazing view from the balcony overlooking the back end of an italian resturaunt. waking up to the sound of boxes being broken up and stuffed into the wheelie bins was delightful.

the condition of the bathroom was disgusting. it was a struggle just to fit into it and the floor would flood when the shower was in use. seeing as we were only there for one night i did my best to avoid it.

also the underground car park resembles something a troll would reside in. i felt more comfortable leaving my car parked on the road, more than happy to pay the parking fine i'd most likely receive for outstaying the 2 hour time limit.

we went out for the night and upon our return the lock on the door simply wouldn't work and we had to wait for staff to come and open it with the master key.

the fire door from the hallway to the stair case was wedged open with a screwdriver because the handle was missing on the inside. very comforting.

in future i would rather commit some sort of criminal offence and end up in the watch house for the night. at least i would be looked after in some sort of civilized manner.

please avoid this resort at all costs. i would only recommend to in-laws.

I cannot believe that this hostel is allowed to operate. They double booked our room so we were made to wait 2 hours to check-in. The room was nauseatingly filthy with stained mattresses, rubbish, dirty toilet (I'll spare you the details), leaking taps, bubble gum stuck to the wall and a distinct urine odour. We attempted to check out first thing the following morning but I was unable to get my car out of the locked garage because the staff where drunk and asleep in the front foyer area. I've never seen anything like it and cannot understand how this establishment survives in Surfers Paradise. It's an insult to Queensland tourism! Be warned no matter how desperate you are DO NOT STAY HERE!

The Gold Coast International Backpacker Resort is the worst accommodation mistake of my life and thank God it was only 1 night.
I seriously pity the poor tourists get "sucked in" on line to stay there for longer.
This place is an insult to backpackers, tourists and all guests,
An insult to the Gold Coast, to Queensland and to Australia.
It is filthy and does not provide what it advertises on the website.
Do not pay a cent till you inspect where you are supposed to sleep, eat/cook and wash yourself.
Our $80 private double room with bathroom and TV had no TV.
The sheets had holes but we think they were clean.
The bathroom seemed to have new fittings but.....
The toilet was filthy and the seat was stuck to the porcelain with stale sticky old urine.
There was lots of dry, smelly VOMIT on the shower wall.
Yes I said Vomit!
The bin was full of previous occupants rubbish
There was dry bubblegum above the bed....hot pink bubblegum.
The bed was really wobbly and we feared for our safety every time we moved.
The floor was so filthy that you dare not go without shoes
and there was no place other than the bed to put anything,
No chair or table, or hook for your clothes, Just the filthy floor.
The only thing that was good was the ceiling fan,
There was a small balcony and sliding door, but that was obviously the toilet for previous guests as it stunk of pee so much that you wouldn't want to open it too much anyway because of the smell.
Seriously! Be warned !
Don't go there! ...Do- Not- Go- There!

pubic hairs were all over the bathroom sink and toilet no one had bothered to clean it up. the room was the size of a shoebox no joke your car is bigger than the rooms. the owners used the main key to go in our rooms while we werent there. we returned to our room and realised that our underwear, bras ect. were all missing and that some alcohol we brought with us had been taken. when we went down to reception the owners were there drinking our alcohol. we left straight away and on the way out warned other holiday makers that they should leave asap too.

If you can avoid to stay in this hostel choose a different or even the beach. This is the most unfriendly, filthiest and dirtiest hostel ever. Your room key opens only the room building, not the door to the kitchen, where you store your food. So you have only access to your stuff during reception hours. I complained 4 times about the dirt and ask for cleaners. Nothing happened. They accumulate all rubbish under the beds, the bathroom looked like having been cleaned for the last time a couple of months ago!!! On the day of my checkout I waited 1 1/2 hours during official reception hours for somebody to show up, I even called the emergency phone number - got only the answering maschine. So I did not get back my key deposit of 25 bucks! I had to leave to catch my flight. They don't care at all. They betray you for your money. The beach is the better bed. Please stay somewhere else!!!
