“Cheap stay!”
Reviewed May 9, 2010

Stayed here in a group of 4 over new years. It was cheap and walking distance to everything. The rooms werent the cleanest last day we checked under bed to make sure nothing was missing and there was lots of rubbish. The owners are always watching you. One of my friends lost the room key during the stay and was told on check in if it was lost there was a $150 fee. When we checked out they were all annoyed we had lost the key even though we were preapred to pay the fee. The pool is average size we didnt use it. Would recommend to people who are after somewhere to sleep at night.

When you first arrive in the room it looks nice, however upon closely looking you will see that plates, glasses etc haven't been cleaned. The location was the best part and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The view from the bottom floor was horrible, so if you plan to stay here, ask for the rooms higher up. The most disappointing part of our holiday was the lady in the office. We asked if she could book our return airport transfers, and she said no that isn't her job you need to do that yourself. We had an urgent call from NZ and she didn't pass on the message, as we were out at the time. No time throughout the trip did she mention that we had a message. She was rude when you talked to her, and it felt as though when you asked for help it was a huge hassle. It does seem once you pay for your accommodation that's when they can't be bothered helping you.

I stayed at this resort with my partner. My brother and his girlfriend also stayed and they had their own room. We stayed downstairs and they had a room upstairs. Their room was superior to ours without a doubt. It had a great view, was a lot more sunnier and had a bigger bathroom. Due to this, we spent the majority of our time in their apartment. Despite this, we still liked our room as our bedroom openned onto our deck.

The service was fabulous, so friendly and helpful. Kitchen was fully equpped, but they only provide a small amount of detergent, toilet paper and washing powder. This was not a problem us as we were staying for 7 nights and just stocked up at the local supermarket. As well as having a drier, they also have clothes airers which we liked.

Great location - just a short walk to shops and beach. Also, we felt very safe in this resort. There are keys to get into the buildings and another to get into the carpark and we really liked this.

Bed was comfy, if a little hard. Very quiet in the rooms. It was also great to see that they provided us with recycling bins in the garage.

My partner, our infant daughter and I have recently stayed here and the experience wasn't too bad. We were on the top balcony of B block and our view was decent. Although it is suppose to be a heated pool, when I took my daughter for a swim, it was as cold as what pools usually are. Taking up all our bags from the underground carpark to our room was a hassle as you need 2 separate keys to get through the doors.

Also, I suggest washing all the bed linen before using as after the first night my partner and I received itchy bites that may suggest bed bugs. Wash all cooking utensils, dinnerware, and cutlery as they may not be clean from the previous guests.

Pros:
- Management was nice and helpful
- Short 10 minute walk to the shopping district
- Secure underground carpark
- Appartments are neat, tidy and cosy
- Kitchen has provided dinner set, cutlery, kettle, microwave, stove & oven, washing machine and dryer, Reverse cycle A/C

Cons:
- Only supplied with limited basic needs. Suggestion: bring your own toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, washing powder, garbage bags, shampoo etc
- Smell of the waste disposal under kitchen sink
- Small combined bathroom and toilet
- Hard bed and extra blankets smelt bad
- Shower pressure isn't strong and water flow wasn't constant

Here you either make do or go elsewhere. We found this place reasonable for the price and location, and management seemed to want to help us with getting the best deals Surfers had to offer.

Throughout our stay at Chevron Palms we found Karen and Peter to be extremely accomodating. Karen organised an early check in for us and advised as to the best tours, attractions etc. She also booked these for us and sorted out our tour bookings when we wanted to change them. At all times the management was friendly and professional. Thanks so much Karen!
The apartment we stayed in was on the third floor, as we had requested, and had canal and city views. It was comfortable and clean and had everything you need bearing in mind that with all the attractions of the Gold Coast it is unlikely you will spend alot of time in the apartment. The pool was clean and although we didn't us it ourselves it was popular with other guests.
Chevron Palms is so handy to Surfers, buses and boat trips, merely a short walk away.
Definitely an ideal location.

Well after reading all the reviews, my partner and I were not excited to say the least.
But when we arrived, Karen was very friendly and let us know everything we needed to know. The room was clean and tidy, it was what we expected. However the pool didnt look very clean, the water was cloudy, so we never used it.

We also had air conditioning, but it was blowing hot air out of it, We contacted management and they had it fixed the next day, but in the process, they tried to tell us we had it on the wrong settings and never apologised for the inconvenience.. hmm i think we know how to use an air con!! what else..

Then the fridge stopped working for half a day, lucky we didnt have any perishables in there.our next problem.. we did a load of washing and wanted to use the dryer to dry our towels, but that would not even turn on.

All in all..
the location is good..Just a quick walk over the bridge and you are in surfers paradise, very handy. but next time i think we will opt for high rise accomadation closer to the beach.

We have just returned from 11 nights at the Chevron Palms and had a
fantastic time. We were well advised of arrivals outside of hours
and were also sent all the details to enable us to get into the safe and
into our room. We arrived after dark so appreciated the extra effort Karen
and her staff went to to make sure we had no issues getting into our
appartment. My husband and I are borderline clean freaks but after reading
the reviews on this site were pleasantly surprised that our apartment was
very neat, tidy and clean, and had everything our family needed for our
stay. We had a 3rd floor apartment which had lovely views through to the
canel and Surfers Paradise. The pool and facilities were fantastic for the
kids who also enjoyed every moment of their stay. It is an excellent base
for families exploring the theme parks and surfers paradise in a great
central location with excellent parking facilities. Believe me if we are
raving about this place it must be good because we are normally picky
people. I found Karen and her husband to be very helpful and running a very
professional business. Cheers for the great holiday Karen, we will be back
as soon as we have saved up again. Chevron Palms does not deserve the bad
reviews on this site. Other comments have been nothing short of picky and
completely over the top!!!!!
