“Great value, hard to beat location & price”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

In the past we have paid $200-$300 per night for Gold Coast accommodation. Never again! Of course that price gave us a more upmarket resort BUT there is absolutely nothing wrong with this resort. The location is amazing as are the views. We could walk out the front door to the beach or restaurants (Orchid Ave is only metres away). Clean & neat with friendly service at the front desk I can see why it is so popular. OK - there was no aircon in our 1 bedroom suite but the sea breeze was amazing so other that the hottest summer days I feel you would be quite comfortable. Next time we are going to try the Beachfront rooms to see if the view could possibly be any better than we had in our Ocean view room (Beachfront were booked out when we booked). I am already planning a 'winter sun' weekend for August and with the price of this little gem we will be heading down the coast far more often. Yeah!!

Room Tip: The rooms with the separate bedroom are great because you get a small lounge room & kitchenette...

Needing just one nights accommodation when going to the boat show we booked on-line at a very reasonably rate. Thereafter we received both e-mail and text messages of welcome, replies to which were responded to quickly. Upon arrival we thought the place may be a bit 'dodgy' - there are many 'rules' and 'deposits' that have probably arisen due to the 'quality' of some guests - but were pleasantly surprised by the room. The 18th floor (top) studio room was huge, sufficiently equipped and with a great view. It doesn't pretend to be luxury but was well-maintained and clean and could easily have supported us for a week. Good location and we tried the restaurant below for both dinner (great) and breakfast (OK buffet - good choices). Didn't use pool or spa, etc. but looked OK. Car parking a bit ordinary (bring a narrow car) but all in all was as good as hoped for. Thankyou!

Room Tip: Room on the 'northern' side had morning sun glaring off the water.

May not be 5 star but was clean, neat and with all the services anyone would need. View from unit was terrific, and being located just a short walk to Cavill was great. didnt need any public transport as the restaurants, beach and all the action was a mere stones throw away. Value for money was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

- A bit old, room decoration is normal.
- The free Wi-fi is in tortoise speed, and need 2 mins to login each time.. just ignore it..
- Mine was sea view room, the view is great.
- Free swimming pool and hot water jazzuzi (the best thing I found there), especially I think the beach in Gold Coast is not good for swimming.
- A laundry (AUD3 for washing, AUD3 for drying and AUD2 for washing powder)
- 5mins walk to the center of Surfer Paradise, and 1 min walk to the night market which is opened in Wed, Fri and Sun.
- Full cooking facilities except an oven.
- The fan is hanged on the ceiling, but the ceiling is so low that you can accidentally touch the opening fan. A bit danger…
- Free car park

Room Tip: - Seaview room is a must - Bus stop from and go to airport is 5mins walk from hotel, can get a map...

I honestly didn't want to leave. The beachside appartment is just brilliant, the resort has everything you could need; pool, spas, sauna, tennis court, games room and the location is to die for.
Defiantly great value for your money. Will definately be back.

Only thing I would say is shower caps and a body wash despencers in showers would be great.

*) From Nerang Station take the bus to Cavill Av, Surfers Paradise. You will get it right outside Nerang Station.
*) Once you get down at Cavill Av, Surfers Paradise Stop, go back a couple of steps in the direction from which you came and get into Cavill Avenue. Keep walking till you reach Ben & Jerry on your right, from here turn left to get into Orchid Avenue. Keep walking straight till you reach dead-end and from there take a left into Elkhorn Avenue. Walk a couple of steps and you will see Chateau Beachside Hotel on your left. Its a big building, so difficult to miss. Its close from the bus stop only if you are walking with little or no luggage, but I will not suggest this if you are hauling luggage. If you are carrying luggage, its best to take a cab from Nerang Station which leaves you right at your hotel. Costs about 30-40 AUD. I am not sure how to book cabs, but there is a way to do so, and that is a better option.
*) Or, another option could be to stay at Hotel Vibe which is very strategically located to Bus Stop and will be your starting point to get onto the bus to reach Sea World, Movie World or Dream World. I have not done any research on Hotel Vibe so might want to read reviews about it, before taking my word for it.
*) Check-In: 14:00 (2:00pm); Check-Out: 10:00 (10:00am)
*) Late checkout fees applies after 10 AM, 5 AUD per hour upto 1:00 PM.
*) Located at the corner of The Esplanade And Elkhorn Avenue, Surfers Paradise, Queensland 4217, Australia
*) Positioned only one block north of Cavill Mall, Chateau Beachside is located in the heart of the shopping, dining and entertainment precinct of Surfers Paradise.
*) Opposite Surfers paradise Beach (patrolled section)
*) Coles Supermarket: 300 metres, inside Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre
*) Cavill Avenue, KFC, McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, Post Office: 1 Block
*) SeaWorld: 8 minutes by car; 15 minutes by Public Transport
*) Wet n Wild + MovieWorld + Outback Spectacular: 20 minutes by car/taxi, 30 minutes by Shuttle or 40 minutes by Public Transport
*) Noise level is quite high due to the traffic on both sides of the streets.
*) The room is without air-condition, only one ceiling fan attach. Can get really hot in summers.
*) Room is very big. No hand-shower for the commode or bath, only head shower, had tub instead of cubicle.
*) If close to the bus-stop if you are walking without luggage, but if you are hauling luggage, would suggest to take a cab from Nerang Station. Costs 30-40 AUD.
*) Has ironing board, iron, hair-dryer, fridge, microwave, kettle, tea-coffee sachets.
*) Floor is half carpeted, half not.
*) Location is excellent, near to the beach and Cavill Mall.
*) AUD$200 Key & Room Security Deposit (per Room) is required to be paid at Check-In. The Security Deposit is taken by Credit Card pre authorization or if Credit Card is not available $200 cash will be required. Please Note: EFTPOS Cards are not acceptable for pre-Authorisation.

The name on the Credit Card used at Check-in to pay for incidentals must be the primary name on the Guestroom Booking.
*) Your Room will be serviced prior to your arrival with bed made up, and towels provided. Housekeeping Cleaning & Services are included mid-term, each week, for bookings over 1 week. Additional Housekeeping Services during your stay are available at nominal additional cost.
Additional Towels provided outside scheduled Housekeeping: AUD$ 3 per Towel
*) Free WI-FI: 200MB for 2 days; (Access Codes at Reception) Or 50 MB for 1 day.
Hot Spot Areas- Reception, Pool, Café ++
Some rooms have In-Room Free Wi-Fi (enquire)
Extra downloads can be purchased on-line or at Reception
*) Luggage Storage - A complimentary Luggage Storage Service is available for those arriving early or departing late only on the day of arrival and departure.
*) Corner Rooms and as high as possible, would be the best rooms.
*) The rooms allocated to the Booking.com reservations are on the LOWER floors – levels 1-5. There is a charge of $20 per night extra for a high level.
*) Even from First Flooe you do get ocean view, but its not as spectacular as you can get from higher floors, for obviois reason.
*) Microwave and bar-fridge only, no knife/folks/plates.
*) The location is perfect, just next to Surfer Paradise, all the famous landmarks are just within the walking distance. For shopaholic, Gucci, Prada, LV is just along the street. Restaurants is everywhere, we have no worry about the food. Please alert the hotel if you are late check-in, basically the front office counter is close in the evening, will communicate via intercom thru-out the check in process, and you will get the password to open a mailbox in order to get the room key.
*) Comfy bed and great views and very bright, tea and coffee making facilities with fridge and microwave.
*) Close to shops & public transport & right on the beach.
*) Wed & Fridays, Surfers Paradise have the night time markets - which is right across the road from this hotel.
*) Indian Options include GOVINDA'S VEG'O'RAMA at nearby Centro Surfers Paradise Mall, Shop 134 behind Gloria Jeans and Star Shots Photography (costs AUD 9.90 per person) on Cavill Avenue. Even Woolworths - Supermarket is there in Centro Surfers Paradise Mall.
*) Many Subways available in the area, and they have vegetarian options.
*) No complimentary bottled water is provided, will have to buy your own.

The best thing about this place was its location. It was close to everything including beach, restaurants, shops and entertainment. We didn't need our car for anything as all was in close walking distance. They also give you free parking which was great. Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ends. :(

I thought the welcome at the reception was not very happy nor friendly. The staff were polite, no smiles and conducted the check in with a routine and procedural way. When we first looked at the rooms on offer at their website, there were two versions of the studio ocean room. One looks modern/refurbished and the other very old. We were unlucky and got the old one. We booked for 1 night and got a studio Ocean view room Lvl 8. The room itself looked really depressing.

The sheets and bedding were fine. There was a dirty cushion on the bed with fluid/water stains on it and smelt really bad. In the cupboard where we were meant to hang our clothes there was in the corner, a mop and a bucket which we assumed was used to clean the room before we checked in. Niceeee...

The furniture needed to be updated for sure. The couch was grimy and not very comfortable to sit on and the TV was not directly in front of the bed so it was not enjoyable to sit and relax at all. The balcony was not even a balcony but a huge sliding door that you can only take a small step and look outside of. Imperfections like dirty patches remained hidden behind doors and furniture. Looks like they only bother to fix what can be seen in plain view. The toilet flush was a nightmare. It was very weak!. It needed a few flushes to get rid of just wee and toilet paper. Imagine if you needed to *%$^! *shivers*. The room was clean enough to live in but not enough to be comfortable in.

I wont be staying here again unless they refurbish it. Its really too old and run down right now.

Only stay here for the location, but not if you are used to above average facilities.
