My husband and I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 6th floor. Not very high up, but we still had amazing views. Everything was really clean, and the apartment was huge - bigger than many places I've lived!

Kitchen had everything, including a very new looking full size fridge, and the laundry was very handy. While the kitchen and bathroom cabinets looked a little dated, they were clean and perfectly maintained.

My only complaint - we didn't have any curtains on the windows, only sheers. Not too bad for us, as we get up early anyway, but might bother some. Oh, and don't get pizza from the restaurant - it was frozen pizza and not cooked properly.

I was at mantra last week, booked it as a package with an airline, 3 nights stay.....I checked tripadvisor befor the vacation so that I am well aware of the pros and cons and wasnt in for any nasty suprises.....

First of all I would like to clarify some things........almost all the minuses listed here by others were gone......(most probably they rectified it)

1.All the lifts worked well
2.Rooms, washrooms and the pools were clean
3.Reception staff were friendly and professional......

What I liked about it........
1.The one bedroom apartment was very roomy .....
2.Kitchen was fully equipped...(oven,fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, atleast 5 cooking utensils, more than enough cutlery, dishwashing liquid for initial use)
3.Bathroom had freshtowels(including one facetowel)
4.Bathroom had other necessary ameties, although in small amounts(please take your own).
5.Loved the location, one block away from the beach........close to most of the theme parks...10-15 mins walk to cavill mall, woolworths....
6. 15 mins walk to starbucks, gloria jeans, subway, seven eleven etc.....
7. indoor pool and the spa were great....
8.I liked the Aztec theme throughout the hotel.....
9.Tea , coffe making facilities
10.All access was through use of the card.
11.Washing machine and drier....the drier was very handy..

Minuses
1.The hotel looks a bit old and worn out(especially the bathroom floor looked old)- eventhough 100% clean
2.Out door pool was spacious but couldnt even try it out because it was sooo cold....
3.The outdoor spa was great, the indoor spa had a very strong chlorine smell

I didnt try out sayas restaurant because of the bad feedback here....so i cant comment.
Also dont expect them to clean the rooms every days....its not a serviced apartment....they will clean it only at the beginning and the end of the stay.Parking was available but please walk to the cavill mall if u can, cos parking was very difficult to get there.

Summary is I loved the place......will definitely stay there again.....felt so much at home :)

Just come back from a short stay at the sun city 4 nights.
firstly the hotel itself and the amenties are great.
only complaint is that the outdoor pool is toooo cold for this time of year.
dont understand why they dont solar heat the outdoor pool just to drop it a few degrees,
with all the sun around...
however in saying that we still frozen and used the pool and great slides..
then went to the heated pools to defrost.
loved all the pool choices outside and inside and the hours open where great....
Rooms where clean and tidie we stayed on the 15th floor and had a great view of the beach and cavil ave. the rooms were big and roomy my main bedroom had a massive bathroom and the kids also had a great size bathroom.
the only complaint l had was that its location isnt as close to cavil ave as l would like, however for this trip we only wanted to vegg so it was okay.... have stayed closer places that were great too. (chervron, great pools and great location if you want closer then look at this hotel similiar rooms and facilities) (penninsular good hotel however a liitle older and not as good pools but loved staying there as well)
overal a great hotel with clean facilities even the bbq where cleaned often and staff always ready to help.

l love the gold coast

We agononised over where to stay on the Gold Coast and finally settled on the Mantra for the location. We weren't disappointed. Easy to walk into the centre os Surfers Paradise and only one block to the beach. Easy access to the Theme Parks as well. Pool was great for both kids (aged 4 and 7). Main outdoor pool a little cold but it had great slides and there were other options for warmer pools.
The room itself was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The shower head in the en-suite bathroom needed replacing but it was still functional. There were a couple of other minor issues with the room but these did not warrant being dealt with immediately. Full kitchen and laundry in the apartment was excellent. Staff at the desk were helpful and accomodating with our queries. We would go back to Mantra again.

Stayed here for 6 nights early June 2009 with husband and my 23 month old in 2 bedroom apartment with ocean view. Was on 30+ floor and had good view over pool and out to ocean although building are in front.

Spacious apartment, clean, full kitchen facilities although pots/pans/utensils all cheap but cant expect too much! Furniture was ok, very much holiday type furniture rather than slick modern.

Pool area great although main pool too cold in winter. Did go indoor pool and spa which was heated well.

Cost just over $A1000 for the 6 nights.

Good spot to walk into Cavill Mall.

Had breakfast at hotel once, not much, food quite average, not worth $.

Have stayed here before in 1998 and can say that the hotel rooms are tiny.

Slight road noise on saturday night with hoons driving around below.

Would stay here again if price was right! Would say a 3.5-4 star experience.

The hotel itself is grand and facilties are impressive but our apartment was infested with cockroaches! The garbage bin area on our level was actually crawling with roaches too! When we complained reception did not even apologise! Not impressed. Should not have to pay so much to sleep with cockroaches!

We stayed at Mantra sun city over Easter, 2010.
Great Pool and gym facilities, with water slide and around 3 pools with spa's.
The Room's were very big, and open. Overlooking the city and beach.
The only bad thing i have to say about it is, the hallways smell like old cooking and the elevators are very slow getting to you. Otherwise, we had a fun experience, Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Hoping to go back very soon.
