Do NOT stay in this hotel if you are expecting a Hotel service. It is NOT a proper hotel as I know it.
Yes they have ‘Hotel’ rooms but they are un-serviced meaning that unless you pay extra (35 Australian dollars - every day), you have to make the beds, change the towels, empty your own rubbish and wash up in the bathroom sink (They do provide washing up liquid though!). If you do want clean sheets on your bed, you will be charged extra for clean ones although towels are free to change but you do have to take them down to reception. Likewise if you need more tea or coffee etc you have to ask reception for it. None of this was made clear to us when we booked it and there is certainly nothing obvious on their website to explain it (although we did find it later in the small print). We have never stayed in a hotel which is un-serviced and were bitterly disappointed.

The ‘Resort’ (as it was described to us when we complained) appears to be mainly a block of apartments with self catering facilities and it appears that some are also sub-let. The balcony 2 floors below ours had 3 bikes and a rusty Barbeque on it which was not what you expect to see in a hotel.
The ‘Resort’ advertises that they have a bar and also a pool side bar, BUT the main bar is only open between 5 & 9 pm and the pool bar is ONLY open at the weekend from 12 till 5. Not much use when you are there mid week and fancy a drink or want to stay up later. We made good use of the Bottle shop across the road instead !
If you did want to go out for a drink or food, it was a good 20 minutes walk into the main Surfers Paradise area.
We did have one meal in the restaurant and found the food to be good and at breakfast there was a good choice although the poached eggs had obviously been sat round for a long time judging by their rubbery state.

My husband and I recently had a short stay at Mantra Sun city and absolutely loved it. We got a room that had fantastic hinterland views was modern, extremely clean and very spacious. It was a great price and real value for money.

The hotel itself had great facilities, we took advantage of the indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, tennis courts. We also loved relaxing by the pool with access to the pool bar and Friday and Saturday cocktail specials were real value for money, very relaxing friendly atmosphere. We loved the buffet breakfast at the restaurant and also enjoyed having dinner there. We found Saya's restaurant to have delicious food, apparently they had gotten a new chef a couple of months ago, we found his menu to have alot of great options, fine dining at a real value for money. The best scallops I have had. The restaurant had very friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

We also enjoyed the location, your not stuck right in the hustle bustle of Surfers with all the crowds and noise, but close enough to enjoy walks on the beach, access to great restaurants and a short stroll to the centre of the city. We found the location perfect.

Overall we had a fantastic trip with very friendly, helpful service from all staff we encountered. We had a great room and really enjoyed the hotel, we ended up spending alot of time their enjoying the facilities and restaurant and bars.

I have honestly stayed at quite a few places in Surfers and so far this one has been my favourite. Can't wait to go back :)

I've gotta say I was a little worried about staying here after some of the reviews, but so glad we went.
This Hotel is fantastic! The two bedroom ocean apartments have fantastic views and a huge living area and the bedrooms are away, down the hallway. Big kitchen and separate full laundry. The bathrooms are massive and a walk in robe in the main bedroom. Just great for a long stay.
The staff were so friendly and even on our first night they rang to see how we had settled in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and I've never had that phone call! The reception staff were very helpful both on check in and check out. Anyone we bumped into in the lobby who were staff from the hotel all said hello! The slides and all the pools were just fantastic. The staff at Sayas Restaurant were also very friendly too and the food was so yummy. The kids and hubby were so impressed. We will be back again! Thanks for a great couple of days!

Room Tip: Go for the Ocean Views - they are magic.

We went to Mantra Sun City just for one night on a quick business trip. The room was a good size, plent of cupboard space, good size bathroom and nice views of the coast. The staff were helpful and friendly. I had the opportunity to have a treatment in the Day spa and the girls there were lovely and my treatment was very relaxing. We dined at the on site resturant 'Sayas' for dinner and breakfast and it was simply superb (our breaky was included in our accomodation cost) and the resturant staff were very helpful to my college with her dietry requirments (Gluten and lactose free). Overall the place was fantastic, the staff happy and helpful. I am planning on taking my whole famliy back there as the swimming pools and spas look great and I know my kids would love it.

Room Tip: Donot expect connecting rooms even if you ask and book in advance
