“Hot Spa was Cold..... Location was Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Hey we are staying here now and have been here since Monday so that's five nights ... We're very disappointed that every time we went out to have a hot or even warm spa .....it was cold. Time and time again we were assured it would be sorted and hot for the next time we tried but ...no.

However the $25 350g rump steak was a hit and if you score a refurbished room your ok. We are on level 12 and its decor is closer to a motel. On a brighter note ... Bed is king size and comfy ... Pillows are large and soft... Balcony looks out over the pool.

Tv is old and square and should be on the verge. Bring your own toaster.

Ac works well and is quiet...but our toilet ran all the time.... Safe was broken..... Still is.

We check out Monday morning and I'm hoping to have a hot spa before we go .... We shall see.

Overall a nice hotel with owners who are doing their best I reckon.

Dear Mark S,

Greetings and thank you for this review of your stay with us.

I was pleased that you enjoyed the steak at Hanlan’s, as well as your comfy bed.

I was disappointed to read that the Spa was not at the optimal temperature for you. We keep the spa at the level safest for our guests and that is around 36 degrees. I do apologise if this temperature was not as hot as you would prefer, I hope this did not cause you too much inconvenience.

I also need to let other travellers know that toasters are not able to be brought into the room. The fire alarm system is sensitive and there is a $900+ call out fee charged by the Fire department when an alarm is set off. This fee would be assessed to a person found to be cooking in the room. There are signs in the rooms as well as information in our terms and conditions that outline the possible ways of setting off the alarms and the charges that may be assessed in the event that you do set off an alarm.

Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Best regards,

Peter Yared

My family stayed at this hotel recently and it was absolutely amazing! We had a great, enjoyable time here. The staff was friendly and the concierge was such a great help! The room exceeded our expectations, it looked exactly like the photos on the website! Room was tidy and clean and was serviced everyday! The location was so so good, it is close to the city views and close to the beach. Furthermore it is right next to a shopping centre which includes fashion retail stores, an arcade, food stores and woolworths! The spa is a bit small but it was open at night which made it very relaxing for us. This hotel is worth it! I would recommend a new refurbished room because they are so nice. Will be back again!

Room Tip: Views are way better on higher floors! New rooms are really nice and modern!

Very disappointed.... Booked in for 3 nights 15 - 18th January. I specified that i had 2 children & required a 'quiet room' after reading many reviews stating noise. The receptionist told me i couldn't make any such request it depended on room availability, but as it's not Fri/Sat night noise won't be a problem. Same regarding a renovated room, but at least they could book me into a smoking room.

I was in room 1415, facing the main street. Noise was an issue until after 3am each night! The interior of the room was outdated & filthy. Mould around the bath & on the curtains, stained carpets & what looked like blood splatters on the bed base. 5 lifts service the hotel, although it seemed only 1 ever stopped on my floor, waiting time up to 9 mins...... too long. What was with the truck double parked immediately outside the lobby doors for 2 days????

I made a complaint to management on my 3rd night about drunken women in the spa. Rowdy behaviour, foul language, exposing their breasts, consuming alcohol & smoking (although both were banned) I tolerated it for about 10mins before taking my children away. Other parents took one look at the conduct & about faced immediately. The security guard (1199) came with a mate to 'clean up' after them taking away there alcohol containers but that's about it. The duty manager did claim to speak to the people involved & give them a warning, in reality these patrons should've been given an immediate eviction from the premises.

The pictures on the website do not match the experience i had staying there & i felt it was overpriced. Major improvements are needed to the standard & hygeine of the rooms, the pool/spa requires constant staff supervision, the staff need to better enforce the house rules.

The only thing favourable to say was the location, but there are many other places nearby to choose from i doubt i'd return here.

Room Tip: What everyone else says, request a renovated room facing the ocean on a high floor.

This was one of my favourite hotels on my trip to Queensland last July that we stayed in. It was centrally located right near the Surfer's Paradise Mall which is great for shopping and nightclubs. The view from our hotel room was amazing, looking over Surfer's Paradise, the staff at the hotel was friendly and helped us with questions that we had. The room itself was comfortable and spacious for four people and was modern, clean and relaxing. Unfortunately during our quick stay in Queensland we weren't able to explore the roof top pool, but nonetheless it was an enjoyable experience for all of us.

Dear Air198,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us.

I note you have brought up the hotel having new owners. We did purchase the hotel in 2010. Previous to that it was a Ramada hotel when it first opened and then a Marriott property for many years. Since our purchase in 2012 the Grand Chancellor group has spent over 6 million dollars renovating the public areas, as well as many of the accommodation rooms.
The latest renovations are in our restaurant, the newly opened Hanlan’s Restaurant. This exciting new space has already received much praise from our regular guests and first timers alike.
I am sorry that you feel the way you do about hotels in Australia as I am sure that most, like us, care deeply about their guest’s satisfaction.

Thank you again for your review, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.
