Lovely neat and tidy hotel , maybe a little expensive but the pool area makes up for it, just on the outer skirts of the main hub but action a plenty, great views and about 2 blocks form the beach , will be back

I have dreamed of staying at the Marriott Surfers and swimming with the tropical fish in the pool...
I stayed 2 nights in school holidays,,, lots of kids and couples....
The staff were wonderful, however they work hard to compensate for the fact that there are not enough of them...they are all friendly and pleasant and helpful, but at times the phones would ring off the hook with no attention, they are so busy!
the in room guide is not up to date and accurate....that's ok I can live with that.they really should edit it though...

There were 2 beds in my room 1003 and one had a large lump on it.???!!!! I slept in the other one, and the blooming smoke motion detector??? went off all night, like a kid with a torch on the ceiling it would light up every few seconds and light the room up...w.t.f.???
anyone all first world problems, so I hope they fix them, as they probably are not aware.

The cleaning staff from Babinda Cairns was lovely... she deserves a medal!

Oh and the air con in reception was not cool enough ,,,, I was sweating paying my bill in January and it was all prepaid... it really was warm!

The cafe Lava out the front of the hotel is great for breakfast and lunch and snack

Room Tip: In summer the western mountain view rooms get hot in the arvo! I loved looking at the pool , my roo...

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay - I am glad you had the opportunity to visit our property and experience our lagoon area and resort facilities.

The Christmas School Holiday period is always extremely busy at the resort with lots of families choosing to holiday during this time. We thank you for your kind words regarding our associates and the service they provided during your stay, especially as it was such a busy period and I will be sure to pass this onto our team.

We also appreciate you bringing to our attention some of the issues you experienced in your room and will be looking into these items further so that they can be addressed.

I am glad that overall you enjoyed your stay at our resort and we hope to see you again very soon.

We spent 8 nights at the Marriott, having chosen the hotel for its pools and recreation facilities. Being school holidays we expected lots of families with children but not the way people trashed the pool areas, let their kids run wild & generally have little concern for fellow travellers. By the end of the day, the pool area was littered with food, drinks & used towels. Management need to increase staffing to clean up the mess, as I suppose they aren't responsible to educate guests on appropriate communal behaviour. It was also difficult to find a sun lounge; a staff member said guests would come down as early as 5.30am to reserve their lounges by placing towels and thongs on them, which they would come back to hours later. The Management were trying to monitor this behaviour but it is a difficult task. We ended up at the Beach, an easy walk of a few hundred metres on our rest days (non Theme Parks), rather than the hotel pool.

The room service food on our first night was barely adequate but the breakfasts were better. We also watched an $18 in-house movie that was of such poor quality we complained to reception, it was quickly taken off our bill. Overall, the food in Citrique was, at best, average and we headed to Tedder Ave for relaxed dinners or the nearby Red Rooster for takeaway instead. The Lava cafe was the best for food; Samantha was great, as were the coffees, hot chocolates and egg and bacon rolls. The Lobby Bar was pleasant with good cocktails but the service was hit and miss. Our room on the 16th floor had great hinterland & Surfers Paradise views with partial ocean views as well. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were always well serviced daily.

We've stayed at numerous Gold Coast Resorts and would recommend The Marriott if you are going out of the summer school holidays or, if during this period, you aren’t too concerned about guest with an ‘I’ll get what I want, regardless of others’ attitude!

Room Tip: The higher the better! Hinterland views are fine, loved the city scape at night. Ocean views are lov...

We did a two night stay here on our way further up the coast to give the family a break from the long hours of driving..We booked through the mystery deal of whotif.com so i didnt pick this resort i just new it was a 5 star one on the Gold Coast.
This place was awesome as soon as you walk through the front door a grand lobby that worthy of 5 stars the Staff were super friendly got an upgrade to an ocean view room didnt even ask for it was meant to be a mountain view room since i couldnt control that.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with 2 beds since my daughters are 4yrs old and 5 months old and was plenty room and felt like a 5 star hotel it felt updated with the decor etc i couldnt fault it some 5 star hotels feel traped in the 80s still.
The Breakfast in the morning was second to none Chefs everywhere cooking waffles, omlettes etc something for everyone and the service was above and beyond i didnt have a complaint about the place i didnt get a chance to go in the pool but it looked pretty good with fish swimming in it and the guests snokeling ive never seen that before.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are great

This is an excellent resort property that features a number of high quality amenities at reasonable prices. The rooms are nicely furnished and bathroom with separate tub & showers. The breakfast buffet is one of the largest and most plentiful that I've seen in a long time, and the hotel bar has a decent selection of food and drink options. The pools include one saltwater beach and a freshwater one as well. Snorkeling equipment is available for rent in the pool area.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly and service was top-notch. The beach is about a 5-10 minute walk across the street.

Spent 5 nights here in early January with my partner, loved the recent renovations as we had been here in late 2010 and is a marked improvement.

The room was very nice and clean and a very comfortable bed. Air con was very effective and the gym is quite good for a Hotel.

The Service was very good and everyone very professional.

My partner visited the Spa and she loved it!

Room service was very nice and all in all pretty affordable, similarly the outside pool bar and coffee shop. Only dined at the new Critique Restaurant once for dinner and once for Breakfast, was nice enough and call me old fashioned but I find these Buffet style expensive, unless you make an absolute pig of yourself. Much rather sit down to an À la carte meal, which they do offer.

My only real gripe was the number of Children that were running around the Hotel at all hours of the day and their parents complete disregard for other guests, crawling around the Restaurant and screaming - throwing tantrums at the drop of a hat. While this isn't really the hotels problem My opinion is to perhaps re classify this as a Kid Friendly or family orientated hotel and perhaps steer clear if you are looking for a nice relaxing couple retreat. One thing you could improve is making the Business Center kid free, its not an video game arcade, I had real trouble getting on a PC to write an important email while kids were playing games for hours on end that i couldn't write on my Iphone

So all in all was a nice time however be warned of the kids club vibe if you go in peak season.

Room Tip: All foors seem to offer good views of beach or Hinterland

Thank you for choosing to return to the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa - we are glad that you were impressed with the resort's recent renovations and enjoyed your stay overall.

The resort is a popular choice for families as children love our outdoor lagoon, waterslide and pool area. We do also offer a Kids Club during the School Holidays for families looking for additional activities to keep their children entertained.

We appreciate your comments regarding our Business Centre and will definitely be taking steps to address this concern. I apologise for the inconvenience that this caused you during your stay.

We hope that you will have the opportunity to return again in the future and we look forward to seeing you then.
