“Decent Portions, Good Modern Menu”
Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

Having eaten at The Groove Train's Melbourne Central location we were keen to see if the Gold Coast location could deliver the goods. We shared the Lamb pizza as well as Chicken Caesar Salad and garlic bread which was more than enough for 2 adults. My partner had a couple of cocktails from their list bringing the bill up to just under $100. It is a funky place to go with relaxed urban feel, live DJ on set nights. I think the Melbourne one benefitted from its shopping centre location and the clientele which made it feel more like a uni student hangout. This one is situated up on the first floor of the new Soul/Hilton complex and there is a lot of road noise from the Gold Coast Highway and passersby. Service for us was okay although we did have quite a long wait for our mains. The redeeming factor is really that lamb pizza.

“Disappointing tapas!”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

I´m a bit surprised to see the excellence mark for this restaurant. In contrast to other reviewers I was more happy with the service than the food. Maybe we were unlucky.

At least they let us buy the tapas deal some time before it was supposed to begin, and since it wasn´t very busy at the time we visited we didn´t have to wait long for anything.

The location was good, in second floor in the centre of Surfers Paradise, with a nice view if you sit close to the windows. However, the food was very disappointing. We had the tapas deal, and it didn´t taste like spanish tapas at all. One of the poorest tapas meals I´ve ever had.

“Great Risotto”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

New years eve was a hard time to try and get a quick evening meal without a reservation but the Groove train was great. The menu also provides for gluten free. I ordered the chicken risotto which was probably one of the best risottos l have had it was gluey it was delicious. The service was good the staff friendly and the price was reasonable for the Christmas new year period in Surfers Paradise.

“Average food”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

The place was very stylish and chic - it's the kind of place one ought to go to on a Friday evening for drinks with friends rather than for a quick lunchtime meal like we did. It invites you to sit back, relax and enjoy your drink.

The food was not bad - we ordered a chicken parma and a pizza from the $10 lunch menus. The pizza was well-presented but we both found the food a little too salty. The chips were soggy.

The service was a bit on the tardy side, as we had to wait quite a fair bit for our food. At least the waitress took a genuine interest in whether we had enjoyed our meal.
