“Great for young travellers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

Great location, only a 5 minute walk to the main street. Friendly staff and plenty going on around the hostel (BBQ's etc). Clean rooms, with an adequate kitchen. However, Internet could only be used in the public area by reception which was a bit annoying but other than that a good place to stay!

I only stayed here for one night. But really enjoyed it. The staff were so friendly, and welcoming, also helped carry my luggage which was a nice gesture. As well as, got picked up and dropped off at the coach station by the hostel. Had the $5 all you can eat BBQ, which was so yummy! And then went out on the organised night out, which meant free entry, first drink free, then cheap drinks. There was such a great atmosphere in the hostel, so had a great stay! However, the rooms were very small. But, the room I had (near the roof terrace), opened up to a social area, and kitchen which was shared with two other rooms. There was only one shower though and two toilets. So had to wait to take a shower, specially when everyone was going out. Also, there was free WiFi, massive bonus! But, could be slow at times. The hostel is close to the city centre and beach, only about a 15 min walk! I would definitely recommend this hostel!

This hostel had a brilliant atmosphere. Staff were very welcoming and kind and pick you up in an old limousine!
Rooms are small but have shared kitchen and common areas which are very social.
Really easy to make friends here, so perfect if you are travelling alone.
I stayed for 8 nights, but would have loved to live here for more like a month!
Wrote about the hostel and Surfers in general on my blog which includes photos at http://catbergin.blogspot.ie

Room Tip: Staying in a female dorm was actually really nice here!

I stayed in this hostel some years ago and really enjoyed it so decided to return this trip, but sad to say I was disappointed this trip.

Positives first....really friendly staff at reception, clean room, well equipped kitchen in our apartment, great activities and offers each night, simple clean pool, good location and good value. There are plenty of them and the negatives could be addressed but they seem to have no wish to.

Negatives points are amplified because the hostel had been so good last time. What was the tv room (a great social space if u wanted a night off the booze) is now a bedroom, the social area within our apartment had beds added to it and all social space in the hostel (balconies, the new tv/common room and picnic areas) are closed from 10pm. Even if u are being quiet and considerate to other travellers you are moved from this social space...we were even encouraged to head into the one area of someone else's room that had not had beds crammed into it moving us closer to sleeping areas and more risk of waking those who'd had an early night. In short if you fancy one night off for liver recovery you are made to feel like a leppa!

Finally what could be a temporary problem with current staff members but given the above I think not - each day the staff initiate drinking games, great for those travellers needing to meet someone, but they show zero regarde for anyone who is watchjng a film in the other area of the room. 4 times I witnessed a group watching a film unable to finish it as the staff playing games turned music on at such a volume......just plain rude, the music isn't part of the game but sound is somewhat essential for the film!

Great management.
An activity organized every night.
Close to all you need in Surfers Paradise.
Small enough to get to know other Travellers.
Apartment style kitchens makes having a longer stay more comfortable.
Good pool.
Highly recommended.

Checked out less than an hour after checking in. No air conditioning, filthy common areas and cockroaches. What's worse is that the staff contacted me on my original check out date to say that they couldn't find me! Obviously some really good communication there. After them asking again why I had decided to check out early and me telling the truth they still sent me an email to review them on trip adviser. So here we go. Do yourself a favour and don't stay here.

After spending two nights in Brisbane I was ready to pack my bags and go back to New Zealand beause of the staff being incredibly rude but decided to give Surfers Paradise a chance. And this was the best decision I could have made because I had a wonderful time here. This hostel is ideal if you're after a party night (which you obviously are - considering you're staying in Surfers!). The staff is offering a lot of activities to encourage people to get to know each other and they get you good deals if you're going out with them. With the TV lounge, a pool and games of beer pong in the afternoon you won't get lonely here as there's always someone around to talk to.
The bathroom in our 4 bed apartment was huge and we had a fan in our bedroom.
