I stayed there for only one night, but had a good time : what was really great was the welcoming reception. My advice : have a car.

The plus :
peaceful, not noisy
great reception
free pick-up from the Greyhound bus station
clean bathrooms
free parking lot

The minus :
the location (far from the city centre, the botanic gardens...)
not a lot of switch for charging your electronic devices in the room

Stayed here for 5 nights, it doesn't look great as you approach it from the road but the communal areas are quite well laid out and nice. Kitchen is large but it's struggle for fridge space, dining area nice and a good tv room. I had a 6 bed dorm which was a good size but if your after storage for your things your out of luck. The bathroom is really big and all areas are cleaned everyday. You'll have to accept sharing your shower with the resident frogs in the evening. There's only 3 so they don't use much shampoo, what do you expect it's Queensland! Not the prettiest of locals but easy walking to most things. 20 mins to original bit of city for few shops, local buses for Botanical Gardens etc. Or 25 mins in other direction to huge shopping mall, restauranst, cinema. Also a Coles about 15 mins walk up road. Two of the staff were rude as you'llever come across but the one guy is great and struggling to make up for his colleagues. Whilst there some drunk guy got hold of keys to all the rooms and went round letting himself in in middle of night. To there credit police were there next day sending him on there way. Ok to stay breifly if your passing through but the atmosphere is not great.

We booked a double room and got a nice cabin! The service is very good, the staff is very friendly. We got a pickup from the Greyhound stop. The location of the hostel is not great. It's a 15 minute walk to the shopping mall (the nearest shops) and 15 minute in the other direction to the town center. They do have free bikes, but you must wake up early yo get one. Rockhampton is not very special anyway. We were there to relax during the long trip to the south.
The cabin did have a bathroom so i don't know about the shared bathrooms. The kitchen was very large, clean and well equipped. We had a problem with the washing machines. There was enough room outside for drying laundry.

A very friendly place this is. And not big. And there is no way people bump in to eachother while cooking, because this place has a kitchen you sometimes find in places with three times the amount of beds. The place is friendly because of the managers and the service. They pick you up and bring you to the train or bus station for free. When they picked me up from the train station it was raining. Along the way to the hostel he found backpackers walking trough the rain, and offered them a lift to a competing accomodation! The rooms are clean. and the place has a good ambiance, roomy tv room and a covered outside area for having a drink. I'd go back here without question

The hostel is a little basic but clean and well ran. Many people in the dorms were working locally and therefore retired to bed after a long day early at
7pmish. The place lacked a little atmosphere but for somewhere to stay short term it has little faults. There is a free pickup bus shuttle and it is only around 10-15min walk
into town, there is not much to do in the local vicinity of the hostel. It is pretty good value for money and if you pay extra for one of the double cabins they are definitly
worth it!

Stayed here on two occassions for 1 night on the way to and from the Myella Farm Stay. I took a private room which I thought was over priced as have stayed in Travelodges in the UK for less which has a proper bathroom. No real communal area except the TV room and most people are just passing through so no real atmosphere.

The chap who owns it is helpful and friendly but the girl on reception is rude and arrogant. She pretty much chucked me out of my room at 9am on the basis that "everyone else's rooms had been cleaned and I was the last one". Thanks love, but given i've paid an extortionate sum for a portacabin I think i'll have my money's worth.

Fine for one night but am sure there are better motels for the same price.
