Southside Holiday Village

Basic clean tidy cabins. We have stayed there twice now and find the staff friendly and price reasonably fair. Something to watch out for is a train line cuts directly behind the park and if you are in cabins that back onto the line you will be woken up when one goes past.

Room Tip: Stay off the train line

This park is very clean, with good amenities, however due to its location beside train line, can become difficult to sleep with trains constantly passing all through the night. Needs something done to overcome this problem then it would be one of the best in Rocky

In the 2 weeks we were there the room was not cleaned and the sheets were not changed.

The close proximity to the railway line meant we were woke several times each night by the trains.

On the positive side the staff were friendly and very helpful. The site shop was also well stocked and open long hours.

Overall we would not reccomend staying unless it is due to a lack of availability elsewhere.

Stayed here for one night on a road trip. Was clean, comfortable and tidy. Stayed in a "Budget" cabin which is very good value for money - had most things you'd need in a place to stay apart from a bathroom which didn't worry us as we only stayed for one night. The bathroom was huge and quite clean.
The only thing that we were taken back with was that it must have been close to a train track as we were woken up a couple of times with trains sounding their horns - but that is no fault of the holiday park.

We were pretty happy with our budget cabin, which allowed us to cook a lovely pasta meal, watch tele and have warm showers. Cleanliness was good overall but the old couch left us wondering a little though. The two bunk beds right at the door of the bathroom would be the noisiest places in the cabin. Ducks and all are seen roaming the compound of the village. Very green and well-kept. Very near the town centre, too, but crossing onto the road towards town is a little challenging if traffic is heavy on both sides.

Room Tip: Rooms further away from the pool and play areas are quieter.

The camp kitchen (which is really only a BBQ and a very small fridge) was very dirty - full of ants EVERYWHERE and even some toads on the bench...

Stayed a couple of nights recently at the Southside Caravan Park Rocky in a Cabin with ensuite bathroom. We couldn't sleep at all due to the noise of the trucks rumbling past along the Bruce Highway some 25 - 30 meters away. Cabin walls and floor vibrated each time trucks drove past.
Grounds of the Caravan Park are well maintained - pity the cabins aren't.
Old, tired looking interior, lock on sliding screen door hanging by 1 screw and unable to be locked. Main door lock could be opened if door wriggled. Bed sagged in the middle and uncomfortable. Ensuite bathroom tiny and we both banged our elbows on towel rail attached to sliding bathroom door each time we used the toilet. Shower curtain too narrow for shower recess.
Interior of cabins very tired and well worn and in urgent need of renovating.
Not an enjoyable stay and definitely not value for money.
Too noisy 24/7, too old, too uncomfortable and definately not recommended.
We had booked some 6 weeks prior to stay (had to give credit card details as is the norm these days) but found that they charged our credit card at the time of booking, not when we arrived. Never had this done anywhere else.
Have since stayed at the Fitroy Motor Inn in Rocky for similar price, 100% nicer, comfy bed and oh so quiet.

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you want to actually sleep at night.
