“Beautiful, safe, warm and relaxing”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Port Douglas is a tropical tourist town. Everything in the main street is designed to suit the traveler. It is not very unique but suited me fine since everything I needed was right there. Port Douglas gives you very easy access to the ocean and the rainforest. I stayed in Cairns for 3 days prior to travelling further north and I prefer Port Douglas to Cairns any day. A day trip is not long enough. You must stay for a few nights and settle in.

“Port Douglas destination”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Having come from a cold climate we found the weather in Port Douglas during August to be superb and we were blessed with sunny days for the duration of our stay. The mornings and evenings were cool but not cold(temperatures ranged from 14 minimums to 27 maximum)
The activities in and around Port Douglas were numerous and although prices were expensive some of the activities were a must, such as snorkelling and diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
Dining choices were great as was the accomodation. Best value meals were probably at the Tin Hut and the quality was great.
We found Port Douglas to be a great place to visit and recommend it for couples and families alike. We did not get the chnace to do everything so will be back again
Our 3 top activities inlcuded-
1. Great Barrier Reef excursion(more than 1 choice there)
2. Sunset Cruise on the Sailaway(more for couples)
3. Jungle Surfing at Cape Tribulation(Daintree

“One of our favorite stops in Australia. Don't miss it”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Port Douglas is so special! It's where the beach meets the oldest rainforest in the world! The 4 mile beach is spectacular - Great to run, walk, stroll or ride your bicycle on! They have yoga on the beach in the am. The town is great - nice shops and restaurants - totally relaxing. We absolutely loved it. We took 2 excursions, one of the rain forest and one snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef - do not miss either. Just wonderful!

“You can't beat it”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

I've been to Port Douglas four times on holiday, thrice as a couple and once as a small family. This is a small town in the tropics - you don't go for culture, you go for sunshine and maybe a little adventure...

For couples, there is great food, sunshine, reef trips, scenic walks, scenic drives and various adventures to partake.

For families there is the warmth to take a toddler in winter and have a week in the sun without too much fuss

“Sightseeing”

There was a great market, a lovely sandy beach (four mile beach ). The only thing I disliked, was the windy road along the coastline to Cairns. Lots of nice eating ares.
