“Best tuna!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

A lovely restaurant with the perfect ambiance and extremely attentive service. I had a yummy cocktail (the Collins) and the tuna which was seared to perfection! It has a real rainforest feel about it and we enjoyed our night very much!

“Great atmosphere and great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

The inside/outside space and tiki torches create a lovely tropical feel. The service was good, the manager in particular was attentive and helpful and the food was outstanding. Three people split 2 entrees, one main and a side in order to try a bit more off the menu. I'd highly recommend the tuna and the prawn hot-pot. Randomly, the fries are also really good! They came with a light, citrusy sauce that served as the perfect dipper.

“try the kangaroo, it was delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

We had the kangaroo and a local reef fish for dinner. The kangaroo was nicely marinated and very flavorful. We also had the duck pancake appetizer. The duck pancake was mushu style, very thin. The duck was nicely flavored as well. We were a bit put off when they offered us bug spray while dining but in the end I was quite grateful as we have been bitten since then but didn't get bitten during dinner.

Excellent professional service, great tropical atmosphere and quality meals that go that little bit further to stand out. Our first night in Pt Douglas on a long weekend and very pleased to have experienced a night out at Watergate.

The setting is atmospheric - our 3 month old cherub loved the flame torches!
But the food was rightly the focus - Asian influences abound, which suit PD's climate very well.
My main course was the best dish I had during a week in PD.
Seared yellowfin tuna with tempura vegetables, sushi rice cake & wasabi aioli was just superb.
My wife opted for the kangaroo, which was a model of its kind.
A "don't miss" experience, even though you could easily walk past the entrance without noticing!
It seems typical of the new wave of PD restaurants, offering outstanding food, something we found wanting on our last visit a few years ago.
