Having read some other reviews I would proffer some advice;
1. Choose your day to go out according to the weather - if you are able to.
2. Go on a boat that is smaller rather than one of the larger boats( 80-100 max ).
We chose our day carefully & were very pleased with the reasonably placid conditions going out & especially the snorkelling at the 3 reefs.
The crew on the boat were helpful & informative, the food was nice as was the coffee ( the barista knew what she was doing! ).
Altogether it was a great day out, we rated it the best & most spectaular of the 4 trips that we went on in N Queensland.

A great crew with a good sense of humour... a boat that was comfortable to wander around without too many people.... 3 amazing reefs to visit.... 3 whale sightings... a professional photographer to capture moments of you day... and a locally run business.
I would recommend EVERYONE to go on an Aristocat cruise.

We found ourselves weighing up the operators travelling to the three reef locations - others were Posiden and Calypso. Calypso were booked out for day and were very honest in telling us weather conditions beyond this day were going to deteriate. Luckily we got a spot on Aristocat who to the uneducated eye seem to run the same boat type and overall experience...

Booking staff at the Marina were nice, the boat left on time, crew professional, stopped for whale sightings, provided for 1-1.5 hours at each stop and got us back in one piece. The reef sells itself - I would suggest not to overthink it and from my experience you cant go wrong go with these guys

An amazing day from the very beginning. The boat was modern, clean and comfortable. The crew were very friendly and at the same time very professional. They explained all safety aspects of the trip and also the do's and don'ts when snorkelling at the reefs. We visited 3 reefs all different but all amazing. The weather was very kind to us as there was very little breeze on the day. The food was plentiful and a great choice even for fussy eaters. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Very helpful booking staff who fully encouraged us to book our family of 5 on the Aristocat catamaran on the 5th July. The day started well with all of us very excited then when we boarded the vessel anddue to some selfish seating arrangements by other guests my family were unable to get a seat inside when the weather turned forcing us to stay outside braving the elements. I do feel that the crew maybe could have had a little input here as we all paid the same amount for the same experience. The crew were very friendly and the food was nice (even though we had to sit on the floor to eat) I realize the weather is beyond the control of the company but this really is a tour that should have been postponed due to the conditions as the water was so rough we couldn't see and people were buffeted into the coral sustaining injuries that would definitely impact on the rest of their holidays. Am sure this would be an ideal tour under normal circumstances but our once in a lifetime experience was marred I feel by the value of a dollar.

We thank the Reviewer for the favourable comments that our ARISTOCAT crew were friendly and the food nice.

We are sincerely sorry that weather conditions were not perfect on the day.

As the Reviewer acknowledges, weather conditions are beyond our control.
It was not unsafe to operate and as the Reviewer will be aware other reef tours also operated on the same day in the same conditions.

Our guests are well informed about forecast Reef conditions by our staff. There is also much information available from the internet etc about forecast weather conditions and our guests and other travellers make their own decision on travelling by boat in such conditions. Many of our guests are on itineraries that do not allow them to postpone their bookings. We would disappoint many if we cancelled tours just because weather conditions are not perfect.

In our briefings to guests we urge guests to let the crew know if we can do ANYTHING to enhance their reef experience onboard ARISTOCAT. If guests do not let us know of any concerns we do not have the opportunity to assist. There are seats for every guest. Stretching out and sitting on the deck is not uncommon ...we assume it’s a choice unless we are asked for an option.

Our business ARISTOCAT REEF CRUISES is in its 22nd year of operation conducting reef tours with a safety and customer service record second to none.
Accordingly, for the reasons set out above, we are disappointed that the review dated 6th July 2012 has rated our tour as only one star for reasons that are essentially weather related which is beyond our control.

We respectfully ask travellers reading the review, to take all of the TripAdvisor reviews about ARISTOCAT into account when judging us.

As travellers will read, the other reviews by members about their ARISTOCAT experience are overwhelmingly positive and rate us as 4 or 5 ‘star’.

We thank the Reviewer for booking ARISTOCAT and we would be pleased to welcome the Reviewer and family back on board ARISTOCAT when they are next in Port Douglas.
