We hadn't heard of Nautilus so really had no expectations. Dinner was a gift for my 40th birthday. They gave us a special private table in the corner with a beautiful outlook over the courtyard. We had already decided to have the 7 course tasting menu but the a la carte menu was expertly described to us. The food was perfect. Great balances of texture and flavour. A little adventurous without being over the top. The timing was right too and we were offered a break after course 5. If we had to be critical we would say that it was a bit pointless to charge $3.50 extra to swap dessert for a souffle when the meal is already $115 per head. We probably could have also gone with 5 courses but the 7 course menu was vastly different (and better in our opinion). We have also had meals in the past where the heavier final courses leave you feeling too full or heavy but this definitely wasn't the case here.

I have looked at a few reviews here and am surprised to see so many negative ones. I guess every place can have a bad night. There's also a lot of foreigner servers (being an international holiday resort) but for us that just added to the vibrancy of the evening. Our waiter was a bit nervous be he tried really hard was speaking his second language after all. Hats off!

All in all a fabulous, memorable occasion. Highly recommended.

Celebrated a special birthday here and was very impressed by the size and ambiance of this place, so serene with palms beautifully lit up. We enjoyed a cocktail in upstairs lounge area but were quickly whisked off to our table downstairs and to a very friendly waiter. Portions smallish but we did not leave hungry. I did feel they were a little pushy with the alcohol. No children sighted on our night here.

The atmosphere here was great. The lights and outdoor courtyard area made for a really romantic dinner for our wedding anniversary. Excellent food and warm friendly service. It's not cheap here but it's worth it.

Visited here as a family friend used to own the place in the 1970s. Its reputation hasn't quite been upheld, just as most of the hotels in port D. The setting is wonderful, makes a change from roadside alfresco that harnesses most of port douglas. The food is similarly very tasty and well presented. However the portions are miniscule and bizarrely very expensive for such quantities. Now I don't over eat so I was content with a small starter and unaccompanied main but I would suggest that most would like to order a side with there main and this will rack of the cost. Cocktails pricey too. Staff friendly and attentive. Although we were made to wait for a table for a good ten minutes (I imagine to encourage us to purchase a cocktail) when there were AT LEAST 15 tables free. Not impressed my that ploy. Overall I would recommend as the food is at the end of the day what you go for and it was delicious. But order a fair bit if I were you.

Have promised to go there for several years and were not disappointed with this hidden gem. The food was excellent off a varied menu. The setting in the trees with the lights and canopy was so relaxing and every customer seemed to be enjoying a long relaxing evening. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive as well as knowledgable about the restaurant and the fare. The wine list was well thought out. There is a picture of the Clintons having dinner there....must be good for them to travel to far North Queensland for the experience!
