“Great food, great service”
Reviewed May 2, 2014 via mobile

We skipped the entree and went straight for the main. I was tossing up between the fish of the day and the steak. On the advice of the helpful waitress I went with the steak, and was not disappointed! My partner went for the beef ragu and was equally impressed. Quick service but not rushed. All in all a pleasurable experience!

“Nice modern restaurant”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

My partner and I we staying across the road from this restaurant so we decided to try it out.

The restaurant was nice and modern and a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the main street, so a bit more quiet location. The service was great, very attentive and the pricing was pretty good.

We had the pasta and the pork for main, which we both enjoyed. Would definitely return here.

“OK meal with an expensive price tag!”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

For some reason in Port Douglas you need to book into restaurants in Port Douglas a few days in advance, even though they didn't seem that busy when I was there. It is quite disorganised and seems like a table is only booked once per night rather than offering 2 sittings or having early and late bookings for the one table. In saying that, if you haven't booked, go anywhere after 8-830 and you will get a table almost everywhere - seems everybody eats early there!
I booked a table a day in advance and got one at Zinc easily for 7pm. The service was OK, there is no view or anything, just indoor and an outdoor "courtyard" style eating area. My husband and I shared an entree, had a main each, I had 2 glasses of wine (nothing fancy) and him a glass of softdrink. This added up to $120 for the meal. This seems rather exorbitant when whilst the food was good, it was nothing spectacular just perfectly pleasant. It was a pretty casual cafe style restaurant with salt and pepper shakers on the table and paper table cloths and napkins. I personally thought that they tried to combine far too many flavours in each dish which just made it a little confusing and complicated. Almost disguised the core ingredients (ie. Pork and Fish).
To be fair everywhere in Port Douglas in expensive and the food did arrive at our tables very efficiently. They certainly got you in and out very quickly (another good reason to have sittings!) I wouldn't not recommend Zinc, I guess I just wouldn't rush back there.

“Make Sure to see the Washrooms”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

The Zinc is a great restaurant in the main shopping area of Port Douglas. It is in a nice location with lots of outdoor tables. We arrived in Port Douglas later in the evening and very much enjoyed both our 'after 9' dinner experience and the beautiful weather that Port Douglas offers. It is probably worth the visit just to see the washrooms which have an aquarium for a wall.

“The best in Port Douglas”
Reviewed April 25, 2014 via mobile

The service in Zinc is a great surprise for Port Douglas at the end of a week in other restaurants. Quick, pleasant and not pompous food comes without fuss. And every course we had was delicious, fresh and stunning.

Don't miss this restaurant as is the best in Port Douglas for quality, service and value
