The service at Zinc was perfect. Our group of 7 loved our dinner experience.

The food was great, the Goat's Cheese souffle was to die for.

Thanks for a great night!

We fronted up without a reservation after 8pm when the restaurant was quite busy and were asked to sit in the lounge while they prepared a table. Not being in any hurry this was not a problem. After no more than maybe 5 minutes we were seated out on the footpath which was where we wanted to sit to watch the passing parade.

I chose the Beef Carpaccio and she the Coconut Prawns for entrees and from the first mouthfuls of both the food and some great wine we knew we were in for an excellent evening.

The mains were also superb - my Prawn Linguini containing plenty of perfectly cooked prawns, al-dente pasta, and lashings of olive oil. I have a hearty appetite and was well-sated by just the entrée and main. That doesn't happen often.

Our waiter suited us perfectly. Aside from his attentive service he was happy to engage in entertaining banter with us and offered excellent local insights, so he helped make the whole evening a delightful experience.

The only "negative" was that the meal was finished in about 1hr (we don't order desserts), which was probably our problem for not telling them we were in no particular hurry for our meals. When we return to Port Douglas we'll remember to ask for a much slower pace for our dishes so we can spend more time goofing around with the staff as the night wears on and patrons wear thin.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable night. We will definitely dine here again on future visits to Port Douglas.
