“We enjoyed”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Had lunch there, prompt service, tasty pub food. We did pop in to observe the cane toad races, but not really our thing, plenty of punters enjoying though. The food was good for our lunch, and not too pricey.

“Average food”

Average food and poor value for money. Not as good as hogs breath but the same price or more expensive. Service was good.

“Poor value”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We went to the Ironbar so our son could see the cane toad races. We were sold tickets for the 8pm show so when our food finally arrived at 7.50 we had to scoff it down. That wasn't too hard because my barramundi was the size of a matchbox!
To make matters worse, since I am allergic to garlic, we ordered herb bread. It wasn't until I had bitten into it I realised we'd been given garlic bread instead.
And the toad races were awful. Lots of sexist/racist/homophobic jokes that raised lots more money for the pub because apart from paying for your ticket to watch you have to bid for a toad to race.

“Nothing special and uninterested waiting staff!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

We were met with a smile and seated quickly despite not having a reservation (I'm not sure they expect reservations). Nice varied menu but very little vegetarian food. Starter of 'Aussie Trio' was okay but cold tasters of meat were overpriced at almost $30. We enjoyed happy hour rump steaks ($16) were cooked rare as requested, but very gristly and took a lot of chewing. Shoestring fries not well suited to steak, and the sauce was obviously ladelled from a vat - revolting. The waitresses were very busy flirting with the waiters, and I found their flimsy vests and short-shorts inappropriate. We had to wave and call out for attention throughout our meal, which was a shame. We didn't hang around for the cane toad racing...
