Description: The Courty as it has become affectionately known, is the oldest pub in Port Douglas and one of the most iconic pubs in Australia. We are located on the corner of Macrossan St (Port’s main street) and Wharf St (overlooking Anzac Park and the harbour). Behind the magnificent heritage Queenslander façade and wide open verandas is a much-loved full-offering local pub. This relaxed and welcoming neighbourhood pub is perfect for lunch, dinner, drinks or a night out on the town. Tailor your own experience at the Courty; whether it is casual large lunches with the whole family, afternoon cocktails in the sun with friends, a much-deserved cold beer, quiet corners for a quick bite to eat or late night celebrations on the open air verandas.

“Unabashedly, Proudly, Classic Australian Family Pub Food”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Summary: This is not a bistro! It is a proud Australian pub that serves solid pub food and happens to be in maybe the best location in town. It I'd great for families because kids can run around because of the ample space outside. There are multiple screens in the bar area allowing you to watch any sport the heart desires. And the seating area outside has a view across the local park with the lagoon at the end.

Food: It's proud pub food. Nothing more, nothing less. The fact that you have to order inside and carry out a number for your table should give this away. I have rad some of the other reviews where people have complained about the food. Seriously, what did you expect? The food is reasonably priced and you have to essentially serve ourself. You get what you pay for. Food for kids is free between 5 and 6 !!!

Ambiance: Make sure you sit outside on the sidewalk. The area is totally protected from the street so kids can walk around without a problem. The staff and other patrons are familiar with kids so no problems if they are a nuisance from time to time.

“Average fare for average price”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Pub is in a good location and has a 'bustle' to it. Lunch menu is fairly basic and standard. I ordered the Barra & salad - Barra was heavily coated with batter and quite cold when it arrived. Salad and chips were OK. Service was reasonable as were the prices.

“Roe not Scallop”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

We went here on the last night of being in Port Douglas.

The first thing we encountered was a staff member who didn't seem to understand basic English.

The staff did not smile.

The seating outside on the deck had the most uncomfortable metal chairs. Would not recommend these seats for a man... to small and you cannot sit right into them.Ok for small children and small woman.

The entrée arrived Scallops and Prawn skewers. 3 skewers. A Prawn at each end and a scallop in between.
More precisely the first skewer had only part of the flesh of a scallop.

The second the flesh of the scallop. The third two parts of the roe and no real scallop at all. What a rip off.

My husband had a fish meal . Not nice at all and he is not a fussy person. Salad ..coleslaw awful. A big disappointment.

I had a steak meal . This was better but nothing to rave about.

This restaurant is a real disappointment.

It looks nice from the outside but has a lot to be desired.

The only good thing was a jazz band playing on the other side. The band was excellent.

“Good food good service”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

After being in Port Douglas for nearly a week, I can honestly say this was the nicest meal we have had. And we have tried several nice restaurants where food was poor. So go for normal simple food, and you will not be disappointed. Definitely recommend it. Atmosphere would possibly be better in high season, as in Nov it is out of season.
