“Food good but Lacked ambience”
Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

This cafe has very good food and juices however it lacks character. There is really nothing about this cafe that draws you in. We just happened to be walking past and thought why not. The juices are pretty good just overpriced. $8 for a juice is pretty exxy. Meals for lunch are expensive. $20 for a burger to me is a bit excessive. The burger did taste nice and had all the trimmings. The owners are very friendly though, I just think they'd get more people through the door of they added a bit more ambience to the cafe and lowered their prices.

“Cheese wrap with no cheese!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

I ordered a blue cheese wrap and I got a gigantic wrap filled only with salad (good if you are a goat) and no cheese in it at all !!! There was a tiny bit of blue cheese sauce on the side, clearly not enough to make the salad taste any better than grass. There are so many better palces where you can eat in Port Douglas, you really don't need to try this place.

“Soggy cheap toast a no no”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

On our first day in Port Douglas, we spotted this Cafe and were lured in by the lovely garden out at the back, v relaxing and off street unlike most port douglas cafes. However it went pretty much downhill from there. My partner ordered the Big Brekky which was not good..in fact awful. Less on quantity more on quality. Underneth baked beans, mushrooms and wilted spinach were two sorry excuses for toast (already buttered...just to add to the soggyness :( the bacon was cooked on a dirty pan and were looking the worse for wear ..please please Cafe Ecco dont butter your patrons toast, leave it warm and toasty for them to butter themselves...I ordered two poached eggs on toast, which were also served on already buttered soggy toast, two lonely eggs, one runny, one overdone sitting atop two slices of cheap slice pan loaf bread. For the prices charged I expected way better food. Service was good though.

“Food was disappointing”
Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

We came here for 2 salads, we had the prawn salad and the tuna salad. The tuna we felt wasn't fresh, flavourless and not a healthy colour. The prawns were not fresh and they were mushy. We also felt it was overpriced, $67 for 2 salads and 2 juices. But the service was great. So it was a shame because everyone there was lovely .

“Our favorite hangout in PD”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Breakfast at Ecco!! Thank heavens someone knows eggs and coffee – plus all the other things you need from a café (pastries, soft drinks, sandwiches, etc.). For my money, this is the place to hang out in Port Doulas, especially because it has a bookstore right next door and the natural thing to do is nibble while reading your holiday books or newspapers.

Café Ecoo has a full breakfast (all day) menu and lunch menu but does not serve dinner. It’s placement in the center of Macrossan (and next to a handy ATM) makes it susceptible to the breeze from the beach and shopping spurts at all the stores gathered around it.

Management seems to be a neat, well-travelled gentleman usually on the premises who is also a good guide to local and world travel spots. His place is run on a welcoming, friendly and efficient basis. The cooking is yummy, the pastries mass produced, and the croissant helpfully warmed. Café Ecco became our landmark for our stay in Port Douglas.
