My wife and I stayed here last week and were very happy with our choice.

The apartments are clean, modern and have everything you would expect from a modern resort. We stayed in a pool side room so we could simply walk out of our patio and jump straight in the pool. The BBQ area is very nice and has everything you require to have a BBQ.

It is only a very short walk to the main street with all the shops and restaurants which we liked. The staff were all helpful and friendly. We would defiantly stay here again on our next trip to Port Douglas.

Awesome location - minutes to the main drag, the room was really nicely presented, really spacious, great kitchen, great spa.....PERFECT, could not complain at all.
We stayed in a one bedroom with kitchen on the top floor, the room was private, well furnished, cool and a much better option than the poolside rooms which offer a lot less privacy. Having walked past the Meridian which was my other option I think these apartments are way better value for money with good sized balconies etc.
Would highly recommend.

Th Shantara was fantastic, close to everything, rooms beautiful, staff were fantastic, helped with bookings and advice.
Very quiet, great pool. We had a pool deck which was great worth the extra. Would stay again.

We stayed at Shantara and had a wonderfully relaxing and quiet time. The fact that there were no childeren and the resort was mainly for adults and couples meant peace and quiet. I cannot fault the place as it is excellent and as described in the reviews. The only note I would add is that my expectation of a resort is at least having a coffee shop or restaurant. This is a brilliant holiday apartment block. Having said that the main street is only about 10 minutes walk away with lots of restaurants available.

We wouldnt normally go to the effort of writing a review for a hotel on a website, but my partner and I have just returned from an amazing trip to Port Douglas and want everyone to know how great this hotel is... But in saying that, we dont want to advertise it too much as we dont want it being so popular we can't get ourselves another booking next time we visit!

Prior to booking our trip, like everyone else, we spent hours and hours debating the pro's and cons of practically every hotel in Port Douglas... We were after a trip that was not too expensive, in a good location, and had a good pool with a nice / clean / modern room...

Upon arriving at this hotel, it instantly had that 'wow' factor you would expect from a luxurious tropical hotel in somewhere like Thailand or Bali... This continued once we checked in and saw our room.. Amazing views over one of the beautiful pools, and an abolutely immaculate, modern and spacious self-contained room that was well above and beyond anything we had expected.

We initially booked the hotel for 3 nights and left our following 2 nights options open... It didnt take us long to decide that we would be extending our stay in this hotel for the entire 5 nights...

It is one of the quitest resorts we have ever experienced, with Dan and all his staff being extremely helpful and knowledgable regarding local facilities and activities... Whilst we did not use the hotel spa facilities (due to time restraints), many locals we spoke to commented to us that the hotel is known for it's amazing spa facilities / services...

The poolside BBQ and in-room facilities were excellent, and were a great option considering that we often did not feel like 'eating out' 3 times a day... As did the budget...

It is the ideal boutique resort for any couple looking for a quiet trip away to escape from reality, whilst getting true value for money (which is hard to find in this day and age)...For families travelling with children, or a young singles looking for somewhere to 'cut loose', you could probably find something a little more appropriate for your needs, however that is just a personal opinion...

We would like to thank Shantara for a memorable holiday and we have spent much of our first day back in reality trying to work out when we can return sometime soon..

Cheers, Nathan and Fiona.
