“Great resort”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

My family recently stayed at QT Port Douglas. The resort was great, rooms very clean and comfortable. Front reception staff , particularly Rhys and Josh were very helpful in recommending and booking a tour. Bar and pool bar was great. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights. The food was was great, and different both nights. Chefs Alex, Brad and Dylan were very friendly and helpful. Would be happy to stay here again.

HI Rosemary L,

Thanks so much for a gorgeous review. Thanks also for the staff shout outs. It's so great for them to see that they are being personally recognised. We know that they are great and tell them so, but there's nothing quite like a shout out from a guest.

So wonderful to hear that you had great meals at Bazaar. We've been taking a bit of a hit on here with the Bazaar offering, so it is really great to see that we are still hitting the culinary mark.

We would love to take care of you again. I bet you were an absolute delight.

We got a great wotif mystery hotel deal and were very happy to stay at the QT Port Douglas.
The hotel style room had was not spacious, but had everything we needed, not much room for bags etc. The bed were nice and comfortable, on the soft side. Nice table and chairs area outside for a sit in the sun of a morning.
The pool area was great, I wish we had spent more time laying around beside it. Plenty of sun lounges.
Location is about 3km from the main street of Port Douglas so you need a car or to rely on the shuttle buses from the hotel, which we were told left every 20 mins.
The resort had 2 places to eat at. Bazaar restaurant was $28 for breakfast buffet, which had a huge variety of hot food, freshly made eggs Benedict or omelettes, smoothies and juices.
Dinner here is also interactive buffet style $65, which the hostess will happily explain and show you around before you decide to dine. Cold seafood, about 4 hot main courses and a variety of sides which change daily and salad bar, charcuterie and dessert bar and then it is up to you to interact with the chefs and ask what is on offer tonight, or what hot food they can make up from you, steaks, fish etc all on offer. The tasting plates were great. Go in hungry to get your monies worth.
The other bar style eatery was nice but had a limited menu, exactly the same as the room service menu. Food was ok but not outstanding.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for a room with at least a kitchenette. Unless you plan on relying solely o...

We went to the resort in mid June for my 65th birthday with our best friends for three nights, what a great resort, every thing was perfect, the staff could not have been friendlier, especially at the front desk and in the main restaurant, special mention for the young lass from USA in the restaurant who always had a big smile and couldn't have been more helpful. front desk girls also very good. Rooms were fresh and clean and well furnished. We have stayed at quite a few resorts around Asia and this was up with the best of them. Overall we had a wonderful three days and would highly recommend this resort, thanks to all the excellent staff for great service and the smiles.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room at the back of the hotel overlooking the gardens. Rooms around the pool co...

My husband and I booked a package at QT Port Douglas for our 10th wedding anniversary this past weekend. It didn't disappoint. Unlike one of the other reviews we realised that the dinner was only for one night, which is actually a good thing as its so amazing it would have been too much for both nights that we stayed :) The chef's at Bazaar are particularly generous and will make things to order. They came over to check on us and we really enjoyed talking to them.
We had a one bedroom villa that overlooked the pool and it was so lovely. The staff are great, everything is funky and the bar staff were very happy to make drinks on request.
There were also a lot of families with small children, so we will probably bring our kids next time - we didn't realise that this hotel would be so accomodating to families.
Only issue we had was billing...we saw things on our bill that weren't supposed to be there (repeatedly) however when they were pointed out they were sorted out immediately.
Thank you QT for an amazing stay. We frequent the Gold Coast QT for dinner and so this is now another one we can add to our list of great places.

This resort is really cool. It has a fresh modern vibe and if you are looking for a resort with everything packed into one, stay here! Things I liked - staff are uber friendly and laid back, rooms are modern with a comfy bed and kitchenette, great atmosphere, food was yummy, excellent price for room, pool is large. I loved that they had a dj at night and acoustic music during the day, catering for those who do not have screaming kids running around like mad (if you are reading this and you are a parent with screaming kids... Control them!!) this resort will suit everyone, you will be impressed.

Hey Fussykitty,

Lol re the kid remark. It's one of those unspoken rules of resort life, isn't it. So hard to keep the little ones quiet when they are so excited about being on holidays, especially with our pool!

Delighted that you loved it, and hope to see you again soon.

After having a less than desirable check in experience at a certain rather large hotel across the road we decided to not stay there and check out what QT had to offer. On arrival we were fretted by one of the many friendly hotel staff who were more than happy to assist. I could not believe that this hotel is well over $100 cheaper per night and includes breakfast as swell as complimentary cocktail vouchers! The entry foyers are impressive and include a funky shop where you can make purchases if you feel the need. The general vibe of this hotel is very relaxed and modern and this is emphasised by ALL of the staff who offer a friendly smile or wave as you pass them around the hotel. Our one bedroom villa(2107)was great and overlooked a small lagoon and not other rooms.
The fitness facilities include tennis courts, gym and a lap pool. The included breakfast had an ample selection of food available with chefs on hand for special requests. We had a great stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Port Douglas.

Room Tip: Room 2107 was perfect

Oh, you just loved us! What a fabulous review. Thank you so much for taking the time ti let us know that you really enjoyed your stay. I must admit, it's so confusing on here at the moment with the disparity between reviewers tales of their time with us.

My girlfriend and I stayed there on a 2 night stand package which includes complimentary dinner and breakfast both days as well as a free cocktail each at the bar and a complimentary champagne on arrival staying in a 1 bedroom villa - king bed.

This all sounds well and good, except we were told by the reception staff that the dinner is only free 1 of the nights even though the breakfast is free for both with no explanation. The resort and rooms are very nice, well furnished and designed with the only issue being the fact that we didn't have a king bed. It was 2 singles pushed together and made up like a king bed with a very obvious and annoying gap in between the 2 mattresses while you try to sleep.

We used the cocktail vouchers the first night after dinner and the bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. The drinks that we ordered were delicious (coconut colada). The dinner was also amazing with very fun and happy chefs ready to cook you anything that you like and a tasting board full of little samples for you to try before you start, cooked fresh to order.

The first night was good apart from the double single bed where you play dodge the gap every time you change sleeping positions during the night.
The second night however, I woke up to a horrible smell at 2am which i thought was coming from the room. It was like a backed up toilet, mixed with rotten egg. I opened the door to the balcony and discovered that the smell was coming from outside and must have entered the room through the air conditioner.
The smell was so strong that i couldn't sleep even with a pillow sprayed with cologne over my face. I was awake from 2am until 7am with the smell. When i told reception they said it was probably the swamp out the back of the property with high tide and i was basically told that it was a bit of bad luck. So i guess all i can suggest is don't stay when its a full moon?...

The place is pretty nice, they have good facilities like gym, tennis courts, lap pool ect which were handy. The housekeepers are in and out like a flash and do a really good job too.

Hopefully in the future they put in actual king beds instead of singles as the rooms cost around $300 a night and for that price you don't want to be sleeping in a crack. I suggest you take your own car too, as the resort is a fair way from town and i read that you will be charged extra to catch the resort bus into town.

All in all it's worth a look, more for the restaurant and bar than they actual rooms themselves. With all of the resorts on offer in Port Douglas i wouldn't stay again as there are other resorts closer to town with better bedding in the rooms and equally nice set ups as this one.

Room Tip: Ask if the king bed is 2 singles pushed together!

Hi CamHomes,

Thanks for a great and comprehensive review. We will take all of your points on improving our service and offering onboard and make sure we do everything we can to have it perfect next time you stay with us.

That's the first time I have heard anything about a swamp smell! All sounds very 'Survivor' to me lol. Yuck. Will keep an eye out for this popping up again.
