My husband and I stayed 4 nights in a spa room for our wedding anniversary back in May. The location of the resort was absolutely conveniently located to the main shopping area, the marina and many restaurants. A big thank you to the staff who were very helpful and friendly. A special message to the two young guys serving at the pool bar who always had a smile on their faces and made great cocktails as well as the best cappuccinos. We had dinner and a couple of lunches at the restaurant that were absolutely delicious. Well done to the chefs. The rooms were small but as a couple just for a few days it was enough. The rooms were compact but well equipped. The pool area was lovely as well as the surrounding gardens. If you have an opportunity to use the spa I would recommend it. Would recommend the resort for couples or families.

Room Tip: If you want a little more room for a longer stay chose one of the 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. The coo...

My family visited Peppers as part of a wedding party, we were able to negotiate a deal as part of a large group which made the stay affordable but meant we were not provided with room service or towel changes, this wasnt a problem as the apartment was equiped with a washing machine and dryer. We booked two apartments both with adjoining spa rooms which was a great set up for family travelling together, however we did ask for the two sets of accommodation to be located together and infact they were located on different floors which meant a lot of running back and forth between appartments, we thought adjoining rooms would be possible since we booked six months in advance.
The accommodation itself is very well set up, we had everything we needed although the furniture is starting to look a little well worn for a 5 star accommodation.
Staff at the resort were wonderful absolutly no complaints at all except to say there were times during peak periods such as lunch and dinner when staffing levels were low which meant long or disjointed wait times, the staff seemed to be run off their feet.
Our apartment was on ground level so it was the parking point for cleaning staff which meant each time we exited our room we were able to view cleaning carts and discarded food trays which seemed to be around all day.
The pool area is brilliant, since we were part of a large group the pool beach became a common meeting area where we were able to purchase coctails and meals, although some brave people challenged a swim the water in the pool was far too cold for comfort so most of us took a token swim.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Rooms are on three levels with stairs to each level, if your infirm or travelling with young childre...

We took a package from a popular accommodation website (same package available on resort website at the time). The package included spa studio room, hot plate breakfast, it didn't include room maintenance for the three night stay. We are in our 60's and my husband has an arthritic hip and we were given the worst room in the resort. I rang prior and was told there were lifts. There are lifts alright, but we were given a room in the back blocks with no lift access and had to climb up and down 60 stairs (from the car park up to the top floor). We were not told anything about the resort on arrival, so it wasn't until the last day that we found out there was an easier access to the beach (and that was by a manager at another resort across the road), up until then we were walking right around the back blocks looking for a way out. When it rained you got drenched because there was no cover. The room was smaller than the average motel room. The spa bath was on the balcony with no privacy, people could see in, so we had to put the pool towels over the balcony rails to get some privacy. When we went down to breakfast, our package included a hot plate breakfast, we were told all the can't haves, then got our breakfast, 1 x toast, 1 x rasher bacon and eggs (could only have fried or poached ... no scrambled), on the first morning it took a half hour to get our breakfast and the restaurant only held 30/40 people. They wouldn't even include self serve tea/coffee, we had to pay extra, so we went back to our room and had ours. The pool is not heated so a bit cold in winter and plenty of kids around. Have stayed at Shantara and Meridian at Port Douglas before and much prefer these to Peppers.

Room Tip: Don't take a package if you want to stay at this motel because you are given the worst rooms

The hotel is very well designed and nicely kept, the rooms are comfortable and clean. Location wise its good for PD centre and the restaurants, although we were impressed that the prices of food/beers etc was no different at the hotel to in the centre. Probably highlights the level of competition for not a lot of business up there, but a refreshing touch not to have a hotel rip you off at every opportunity.
Pool suites looked awesome with private sun beds on a deck over the pool (these are the only north facing beds around the pool but others get plenty of sun during the day), and the large baths on the patio give you a nice feeling of bathing outdoors (although if you are on the ground floor a discretely placed towel over the railing is necessary to avoid kids gawping at you in the bath from the swimming pool!)
Food was good, nothing special, but good, staff were friendly and efficient.
Our problem, such as it was, involved the sheer number of children at the resort. Peppers promotes "indulgence" as one of its buzzwords, but I struggle to find the inspiration to "indulge" when I have dozens of kids screaming and playing. We were out of school season so it was a little bit of a surprise. That said, if you don't mind the sound of children enjoying themselves (and we don't mind at all), there is nothing to worry about - just better to be prepared rather than expect a luxurious, peaceful break for a couple.
Pool area is great, the beach attracts the aforementioned kids and as a parent it would have been perfect for me when mine were little, but the pool is big enough for serious swimming as well.

All in all, a good venue, well placed for both PD beach (which is like concrete in case you don't know - no soft sand here!) and the town centre and its bars and restaurants (about 300m I'd guess to the start of Macrossan Street), but one which manages to maintain a degree of serenity (very little traffic noise) in spite of the kids having fun.

Definitely go there if you are a family, if you're a couple, you may want to assess your attitude to boisterous children before booking

Room Tip: east end of the hotel, furthest from reception is further from the (not very busy) road

The Pool at Peppers Port Douglas is awesome for kids. You don't even need to go to the beach!
We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a multipurpose room that had 2 chaise lounges that converted to single beds for the kids. Perfect for young kids, but only until about 12 as they weren't the size of true singles. Perfect set up for us. We were on the ground floor so had gated access to the pool. That was fantastic, as was the BBQs on every balcony. For a 5 star resort it was a bit rough around the edges and there were a few little things in the room that needed some maintenance (broken laundry door, chunks of paint / plaster off walls) The couches in the living area were incredibly uncomfortable! We had friends staying in another apartment and they seem to all be furnished the same, so their couch was just as bad! Overall good place with the kids, wouldn't honeymoon there and wouldn't pay full price.
