“Affordable and Clean”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

We stayed for four nights .They didn't have the correct bedding configuration that we booked for when we checked in but they quickly found another room that was to our liking. The unit was very clean , tidy and well appointed, even having an iPod dock music system. The only complaint was the bed was a bit old and well used, much need of a new one. We can't comment on the service as we only slept here and never ate here and the rooms aren't serviced (being apartments). We did have to pay $1 for an extra roll of loo paper , a bit rich!!! The pool areas , there are 4, were great ,specially for families ,heaps of nooks , crannies and tunnels for the children to discover. From the outside it looks a bit tired but once inside all good

The hotel seems a little dated away from the flashy entrance. This resort is a little long in the tooth. The 80s was the boom time for Port Douglas, prior to the Bali, Thailand and Vietnam honeymoon. Port Douglas WAS the place where couples came to spend lazy days on 4 mile beach and staying at resorts in the beach holiday destination.

The apartment rooms are HUGE. Staying in a one bedroom mezzanine apartment at the rear of the complex. We were most impressed. The kitchen was equipped with everything required to make the stay economical and feel like you were on a holiday at home.

The bathroom (s) both upstairs and down were spotless.

King size bed was a little on the hard side, but I am fussy, so please do not take my opinion to critically.

As previous people would have stated. The resort is a little far out, but remember- you ARE on holiday. Relax. Enjoy the walk into town. Walk along 4 mile beach, whether it crack-o-dawn or evening this beachside oasis is just magical. This is my favourite holiday destination. The people that frequent Port Douglas come back time and time again because it it just so very beautiful.

The resort has every facility that you would need. Pool, restaurant, gym. All of a very high calibre. This is however a family resort, which means.... lots of young families. So, be prepared for children crying at breakfast, frazzled parents with dark circles under their eyes, that look like they needed the vacation more than I did! This is value for money, so this resort offers everything a young family would need to keep the little ones tuckered out!

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the resort seem to be quieter without bypassing traffic and the likes of ch...

We stayed in early May in a one bedroom villa at Rendezvous Reef, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa was clean, well appointed (with a HUGE king-sized bed) and extremely comfortable, and backed onto a green belt. Three very friendly kookaburras lived in the trees behind our villa, and flew down onto our balcony to say hello! We were even able to stroke one of them! Absolutely delightful. We ate almost all of our meals at the resort restaurant, and worked our way through the dinner menu which was first class. Good choices, tasty tucker, and good-sized serves. (Loved the nasi goreng!) It was lovely to eat outside under an umbrella overlooking the rainforest pool. The reception and restaurant staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. The resort was somewhat dated, but neat and well looked after. There was some refurbishment/upgrade going on around the pool area whilst we were there. We would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the resort (i.e. away from the road).

My wife and I and another couple stayed at the Rendevous Reef last week for 7 days and whn booking were a bit concerned about the low ranking this place received. Our fears were proved unfounded as we found this resort superb and the staff and service excellent. We had full buffet breakfast and a couple of luches here during our stay and were more than satisfied.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted by a very pleasant Irish receptionist to the staff at breakfast and in particular Paul the young Irish staff member and Yvonne we were pleasnatly looked after with humour and efficency. It is a pity that more resorts do not have staff of their quality.
The rooms and beds were very comfortable with our apartment looking out over a very lovely pool which we enjoyed swimming and relaxing in. Cocktail hour at 4pm was well appreciated after a long day outseeing some of the many and varied attractions that are available around Port Duglas the highlight of which for us was Hartleys Crocodile Farm.
The only drawbakc was the resort was 3.3km from the main shopping area and restauranats in Port Douglas but this is only a plesant 30-40 minute walk into town or you can hire a car from Port Douglas Hire Cars which we did and was surpsiingly cheap and saved us quite a few dollars if we had used the molcal bus service which is expensive at $5 per trip to the resort.
All in all highly recommended and its low ranking is a mystery to us. When we return to Port Douglas in all probabbility we will rebook at the Rendevous Reef Resort..

We took this resort on a mystery deal on wotif.com and we were VERY disappointed I have to admit :( It is situated about 4 km outside Port Douglas which is fair enough on a mystery deal but at 175 AU I expected a lot more. We had House number 1 which is facing the main road on one side and the entrance road to the other side. The shared living room was very small for a 3 bedroom apartment (1/3 of most other apartment I have rented in Australia) No free Wi-Fi and get this... 5 AU$ to get the key for the safe! This apartment had 3 bedrooms. None of them with private bathroom but decent size and quite comfortable beds. We had 2 breakfast included each day but since they don't open the buffet until 7.30 you cannot make use of it if you booked tour. We asked if we could do 4 breakfast one day instead of 2 everyday since we could not make use of the offer otherwise. This was denied so I guess they are not as flexible as the keep telling us in their advertising. Actually the breakfast was very very basic - 4-5 cereals , yogurt, fruit and toast for 12.50 and for 17.50 you could add 4-5 hot dishes and it was way too expensive for what you got. You pay 20$ at the big 5 star resort and get SO much more, it cannot even begin to compare.
Best thing about this resort is that it is a 5-10 minute walk to the 4 mile beach and if you have kids it does have a lot of pools and playgrounds.

Room Tip: DO not get any rooms facing the main road and house 1 is not very nice. Kitchens are not well equipp...

I booked this accommodation as a school holiday treat for my girls. They absolutely loved it.
Fantastic value for money - especially for the school holiday period!
We stayed in a 2 brd villa - a little dated and I could see that some of the other ones were in better shape definitely. So my guess is that they are slowly refurbishing all villas.
Did not have breakfast included but used room service. Selection is limited but service was prompt and food was nice and good value for money.
Similarly, drinks are well priced. They have a happy hour and soon as it starts staff comes around the pool to collect orders.
Overall, staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

We were pleasantly surprised to find Rendezvous a great resort with a bit of a tropical village atmosphere. Being quite large we were worried that it might loose that resort feel, but not so.
Lovely 2 bedroom fully self contained villa with everything we needed including 2 modern bathrooms. And it appeared the villa had been recently fully modernised to a good standard. Staff were very obliging and the restaurant was quite good value especially if you didn't want to eat in the village after a long day of touring. Great lagoon pools and kids playground and it also had a gym and lap pool for guest use. We didn't use them but plenty of guests did from what we saw. Happy hour was good with a good variety of cocktails and beers at great prices. Good buffet breakfast to start the day. All in all we were very happy with this wonderful resort which is great value for money and if we come back to Port Douglas we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend it for families.

Room Tip: Stage 2 villas have there own pool and are very quiet and close to the bbq area and kids playground
