Stayed here for 3 nights. Lovely one bedroomed apartment on two floors with own front door. Plenty of space and 2 bathrooms. Balcony overlooking pool. Kitchen was not heavily equipped so they didn't expect you to do much cooking! Washing machine and tumble drier in utility area. Tumble drier a bit dodgy but we managed to get it to work. Ipod docking station in lounge a nice touch. WiFi available free via internet cable otherwise $5 per day. Quite a long walk to reception and the restaurant. At night it was very dark and you will need a torch if walking back to apartment. Restaurant was very good and we found the staff extremely helpful. Lovely big pool by the restaurant and some smaller pools by the apartments.
Very good buffet breakfast with lots of cooked food. Reception can book trips for you and we particularly enjoyed the Mosman Gorge trip - fabulous if you like swimming and sitting under waterfalls. Also highly recommend the Wildlife Habitat not far away -superb.
Shuttle bus will drop you in town and bring you back for a small charge.
Had to leave very, very early to catch a plane and the staff provided us with some bread and butter the night before so we could at least have some toast for breakfast.
Lovely stay and recommended.

We got the package that included breakfast for a family of four which I would highly recommend as its just one less thing you have to worry about. The buffet breakfast is pretty basic however it's something that fills everybody up before a big day. Location wise we did find it a little far out of town however all the big resorts are. The shuttle bus is reasonably priced however we got a hire car from Avis for the duration of our stay which made a huge difference as we could go anywhere at anytime we wished and go into town grab dinner and go back to the resort if we were to tired. We tried an evening meal at the resort on our first night, it was very very average for its price so I do not recommend to have dinner there. In the afternoons all the families return from their day trips and relax by the pool while the kids play which is brilliant. The 2 bedroom villa we had was very spacious and had an air conditioner downstairs and two upstairs in each bedroom. The second bedroom had a tv in it but the main didn't which I found very peculiar. The sheets and pillows were great I fell asleep on them quite easily and so did the others. The lounges are horrendous and so uncomfortable that we took the cushions off and threw them on the floor with blankets as we found that more comfortable to watch tv in the evening. The place was neat and tidy but what other people have said about flies in the windows and ants or sand is true, and your villa is not cleaned for you or toiletries and even toilet paper replaced as they state in their brochure in the room you have been given a certain amount for your stay and if you want more of anything else including toilet paper it costs extra. All in all we had a great stay there even though I would rate it a 3 star resort. However I do believe they are upgrading the resort this year.

Room Tip: If you have a family of children ask to be over towards the big pool as that's where the familie...

I will list summarise the bad first and then the good.

The Coffee Machine: The villa has a NesCafe coffee machine that uses special capsules. When we opened the NesCafe box which contained the capsules (which was suppose to have 2x Hot Chocolate, 2x Latte (milk) and 2x Coffee) it was filled with 2 hot chocolates and 4 lattes (just milk). Weird, since the milk and the coffee capsules look completely different (as per the images on the box).

The toiletries: Rendezvous only provides typical tiny bottles: 1x shampoo, 1 x body & hand etc. When we enquired at the reception we were told that they get refilled at the mid-stay clean or something like that. This villa is suppose to be a 6 person Villa, we are only 3 people and that one bottle is really not suffice when we are staying a week with another person arriving tomorrow. FURTHERMORE, they ask that you if you wish you can PURCHASE extra shampoo etc. We did not enquire about the price, but in a review I read just prior to writing my own (as it was the most recent review) it said $3. Now, don't get me wrong, $3 isn't a lot, BUT it is the fact that it is a 6 person villa. Also, I am not sure if those small bottles are worth $3.

The roads that connect the villas are very dark at night. I had to use my phone light to find my way. Not really a big thing, but I would have thought atleast motion sensor light may be nice.

The Washing Machine: Eh, not a BIG deal since it may be our specific villa, but the spin cycle doesn't work properly. It leaves clothes heavy with water (even if it was a very, very light load). Some shirts and socks etc.

THE GOOD.

Our particular villa was clean.
The sheets aren't itchy. :)
There's a lap pool.
Nice pool near the cafe.
Other facilities.
Overall it is very good, EXCEPT for those handful of things.
(But hey, perhaps some of the things above don't bother you.
It isn't a bad place, but just made me think... 'Why?').

TIP: Book taxis 35 mins before you want to leave. Takes a little while to arrive.

Our villa was not clean, it even had dirty dishes in the dishwasher from previous occupants! There were many dead flies on the window sills that had been there for a long time. We feel we should make everyone aware that you do not get your villa cleaned daily or get given fresh towels or toiletries. We were given one shampoo, and shower gel for 5 people to last 4 days, and if we had wanted more we had to pay $3 for each. This was the same if you wanted your villa cleaned daily or required fresh towels then you had to pay an extra charge. That's a bit tight! Although the villa and the cleanliness lets this place down and let's be honest the whole place is quite tired. The breakfast on the other hand was very good as was the dinner we had. The staff for the most part were friendly and helpful. Only the receptionist on our last day let the place down with her slightly antagonistic attitude.

My fiance and I stayed here for 5 nights in a 2-bed villa. We weren't sure what to expect as we'd never been this far up the country but were more than pleased with our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the villa was clean, tidy and had a lovely open plan living area.

the resort pools were lovely and it was great to relax in the sunshine by the pool during happy hour (4-6pm). It was great that the resort had free wifi in the bar and around the pool, not many places seem to offer that.

Even though the resort isn't on the main street of Port Douglas, the regular (every 15 to 30 minutes) shuttle bus was really handy. It was $9 for a return journey. All in all, I would happily stay here again.

My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom villa for one night after attending a wedding. It was lovely. We also had a look at the 2 bedroom villas that our friends stayed in and they were just as nice. Our little courtyard had a gate that lead straight in to the pool area and there was a nice little balcony over looking the pool too. There is a shuttle bus that takes u to and from the town, and babysitters, also. We didn't have the kids with us on this trip but they would've loved it too. There's a park and plenty of room to run around. We only ate at the restaurant for breakfast and it was nice enough. They also do takeaway meals so u can take them back to your villa. We didn't try them, but what a great idea! I would definitely go back, stay longer and take the kids.

Myself and my partner stayed in the Rendezvous Reef Resort for 18 nights in Oct-Nov 2012. The resort itself is set out nicely, the pool and gym facilites were great and the reception/bar area is modern. The villa we stayed in was what were expecting after reading other people's reviews online, no nasty surprises to report! It was clean and comfortable albeit definitely in need of some TLC. The kitchen was usually overrun with ants but with it being next to a patio door in warm Northern Queensland, it's to be expected and bug spray was provided. The villa was well air-conditioned and beds made/toilettries replenished approx every 3-4 days. My main issue with the resort was there was no friendly 'atmosphere' - the staff kept themselves to themselves and were few and far between, there was an area near the reception with leaflets for local attractions but nobody to give any info or show enthusiasm for the attractions (there are plenty of tourist information centres in Port Douglas full of very friendly and knowledgeable reps!) the food and drinks were over priced for the standard and we much prefered to go to neighbouring hotels/resorts and into Port Douglas to eat. The 'bar' itself is the reception desk/area so it's certainly not somewhere to sit and have a quiet drink in an evening. Our stay in Port Douglas was fantastic and not tainted by these slight negatives, there is so much to see and do in the area that as long as we had clean and comfy accomodation with suitable facilities to return to we were happy - the Rendezvous delivered on this.

Room Tip: Our villa was near the lane pool so had to endure the early morning fitnees instructer shouting
