We stayed at Paradise Links for a week with our two children ages 12 and 10, during July (Winter in OZ). We had flown into Cairns from Tokyo, hired a car and driven the hour or so up to Port Douglas (a beautiful drive but keep your eyes on the road as it's narrow in places).

We had previously stayed at Peppers in Palm Cove, but this time wanted a little more space and as our kids are keen golfers, wanted to be close to a course. It was our first time in Port Douglas and it is a lovely place. The markets on Sunday are a little 'bohemian' but that added to the enjoyment.

Check in was smooth, and when shown to our villa it was just as the photos on the website. Spacious. Clean. And with EVERYTHING you need. The kitchen was very well equipped, and with a car it was easy to drive to the local IGA supermarket and pick up groceries, wine and beer for the week. The supermarket is within walking distance if you need it though.

We did not eat out at any restaurants (there are none close by) but we made use of the fantastic BBQ area near the pool once- and as were were out sightseeing most days were too tired anyway to find a restaurant.
At 5pm we watched the golfers from our bedroom balcony with a cocktail in hand- so tropical and relaxing!

The golf course is an easy walk, (5 minutes away). Our kids made use of the free lessons on Sunday morning with the local Pro, while we enjoyed a latte at the restaurant overlooking the putting green.

Port Douglas itself is a good walk into town- roughly 45 minutes via the beach (much preferable to the road walkway) but Paradise Links has bikes to hire, if you do so choose and it is a very flat ride into town.

As all the villas are independently owned, I would guess each is individually decorated but all have the same standard equipment. The washing machine and dryer were fantastic as was the dishwasher!
Loved our stay. It was wonderful having the kids in one room, and us in another, with a spa bath and private ensuite. The only, (and I mean ONLY) thing I would ask for is a doormat at the front door as alot of dirt was walked in on the tiles (I swept it constantly!!)

And for those who are not used to Northern QLD beaches- there can be crocodiles at any time of the year, and stingers (which during winter are not present)- so if you are going for a 'beach' holiday, go to NSW in the Summer...

Highly recommend this resort for your stay in Pt Douglas. Accommodation was very good (2 bed apartment) 2 bedrooms, small but adequate kitchen (after all it is a holiday so who wants to spend too long in the kitchen), 2 bathrooms, washing machine in one, and 2 balconies with outdoor table and chairs. The grounds and pools gorgeous, tennis court with lights excellent, good quality bikes and racquets to rent, short walk to beach, long but beautiful walk along the beach to Pt Douglas centre. It is a little way out of town but we didn't have a problem with this as we had a car and were happy to walk and cycle as well. The only downside for us was that the 2 apartments below ours were occupied by inconsiderate people who would smoke constantly outside their apartments and the smoke would blow up to our balcony. Management were very receptive and understanding and did their best to manage this within the constraints of current legislation. Nevertheless I would defintiely go back but just ask not to be above these known smokers. It would be great if in the future there could be designated smoking areas away from other guests accommodation as it really did curtail our ability to sit on our balcony and to keep our windows open. The staff and management were fabulous and unlike some places we've stayed in Northern Qld we felt that their recommendations and advice about tours and attractions were genuine rather than feeling that they were pushing the tours for which they received the greatest commission. They were always helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back as I would love to play golf next time and just love Pt Douglas and Paradise Links. Might go for one of the villas next time overlooking the course.

Hi Canada Crew thanks for the truthful genuine comments. Yes shame about the smokers, should take up origame it's better on the health. The golf course at Sea temple and Mossman are both fantastic, might have a game with you next time, thanks JC

Booked two seven night deals through Groupon and didnt want to leave. The resort gives you everything you need, two pool areas, great accommodation with plenty of room in the 3BR villas. Cooking in is no probs with plenty of kitchen equipment and access to supermarkets etc without a car is no real hassle. The shuttle bus comes by every 15 minutes to take you to PD or you can ride a bike up the beach. Value for money in spades and given that I am a golfer, being next door (100mtrs) to the first tee at Sea Temple made it even better.

Room Tip: If booking a villa ask for a room with a view over the course not looking into the trees

As far as resorts go Paradise Links Resort ticks all the boxes for what you are after. It is spotlessly clean, a great place for families, the staff are friendly and helpful, their facilities are great and they are very reasonably priced. All there facilities are maintained to their highest standard and all staff make you feel very welcome. Myself and my family have been coming here for the past two years on a regular basis and we love it. We are getting married in Port Douglas next year and we have recommended it to all our wedding guests as the best accommodation around. We will be coming back every year to this place for many years to come.

We stayed 3 nights in one of the hotel rooms and found the room very clean and comfortable. It was excellent value compared to most of the accomodation we looked at. It is a 5 minute drive out of town but suited us well. A 15 minute walk takes you to a great pub, restaurant and the beach. The pool is beautiful as is the tropical gardens all around the villas. The balcony was a real bonus.

We stayed in a 3 bed villa last week. There was plenty of room for everyone with all rooms of a good size. All rooms were airconditioned and very comfortable.

There are two bathrooms upstairs with an ensuite and an extra toilet downstairs which was handy to not have to go upstairs to use.

There were plenty of utensils/crockery etc in the kitchen. We did have an issue with our toaster and it was replaced quickly. The 3 bed unit had an 8 seater dining table which was spacious and handy for entertaining.

The unit backed onto the sea temple golf course so great for golf lovers. The golf club breaky and facilities were very nice.

We have stayed in Port previously, everywhere seems to have ant problems. We found that using some spray and wipe on the kitchen benches kept them at bay. But really they weren't that bad compared to the place we stayed last time.

The pool is quite large with several several different sections and depths. Perfect for children of any age. The managers offer great rental bicycles and golf clubs if need be. Johnno was great and a wealth of information as he is a 20 year port local.

It is out of town, but if you don't have a car a shuttle bus is available from the front desk every half hour on the hour.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at paradise links and would recommend it to families that like some space and in a modern setting.
