We stayed at the Hibsicus Gardens for 9 nights as part of our honeymoon. What we found was a wonderful tropical paradise and very peaceful - perfect for honeymooners!. The room was a bit dark, but very clean and modern, with a small private balcony surrounded by trees. The whole hotel is extremely well kept, the breakfasts were very nice and reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful.

I treated myself to a massage at the spa while i was their and i would highly recommend it - it was wonderful!

The pools are out of this world, by far the most beautiful surroundings that I have ever sunbathed in.

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Five minutes walk from the beach, the marina and Macrossan Street which is the main street with all of the bars and restaurants.

The only faults that I found with the hotel were because it is so well situated, it is on the corner of two busy roads so there is road noise while you are by the pool and we did find that the road woke us up in our room on a couple of occasions.

Overall, the Hibiscus Gardens is a fanastic hotel and I would definately stay there again. Port Douglas is a beautiful town with something for everyone. I would highly recommend using 'Poisidon Tours' to take you our onto the Barrier Reef (recommended to us by the hotel). Also, there is a restaurant around the corner from the hotel called 'Zinc' which I would also highly recommend.

I spent my birthday weekend in Port Douglas and stayed at the Hibiscus Gardens Spa Resort for 4 days in June.

Apartment was clean and just very homey feel. We got a two bedroom apartment and it was so spacious. It included 2 bathrooms and one kitchen and tv in each room.

Had really noisy neighbours as they had music blarring at 3am suddenly and woke everyone up. Luckily it didn't go on for ages as security had been called and they were there pretty quickly.

The main room had a kitchen and that was equipped with everything. There is a BBQ by the pool area and it is welcomed for everyone. We even bought fresh fish and cooked up a feast one night and sat in the balcony.

Not very impressed with the breakfast as on several occassions what we ordered seemed to have run out or they didn't stock it, even though it was on the menu.

Pool area was very relaxing. But they really need to do a big spray around the pool area. There were too many green ants and my sister got severly bitten. She was sunbaking and got bitten on her legs and wrist. The bites swelled up and pus formed on her wrist. It was really bad and she had to seek medical help.

Staff gave us wrong directions to Marina Mirage as we did the Quicksilver cruise. So we walked the wrong way and was late for our cruise. Luckily we made it!

Don't buy an underwater camera at Marina Mirage. There was a surf-shop that was selling them for a really high price and later saw them at the IGA for half the price.

Overall it was a very plesant stay and I had some R & R time.

We (2 adults, 2 small kids) stayed in a 2 bed/1 bath apartment -v. clean and spacious, nicely decorated. The staff were v. helpful and courteous. Great pools, fantastic location and quiet. We could walk to the shops, beach and marina in under 10 minutes. Would highly recommend this place. One advice is if you wanted an even quieter apartment -ask for one closest to the carpark. Also, watch out for those green ants -do not touch them as they bite!

Having stayed at this resort for 6 nights, we came away feeling so relaxed and refreshed. The resort and garden was lovely and well kept, and the 2 pools were always clean and inviting. Our room was big, and the bed so comfortable. The location is spot-on for Port Douglas - a couple of minutes walk either way to the shops, the beach, or the marina. We made this our last destination after a 2 months tour of New Zealand and Australia and I'm so pleased that we chose the Hibiscus to end on. We would recommend this resort to anyone, and would also like to mention the Wavelength barrier reef snorkel tour. This tour caters for small groups with a maximum of 30. They looked after us so well, and in weather conditions that were less than perfect.

We stayed here for 5 night for our honeymoon in Dec, 2006.

We booked a studio spa suite however these rooms are all on the ground floor with a main walkway directly infront of them.
We discussed with the staff at the check in desk that we would like a room that was a little more private as it was our honeymoon and they happily and without fuss moved us to a one bedroom suite on the top floor with a balcony shaded by palm canopies. It was perfect.

The hotel is in a good location and you can easily walk to the beach, main street and marina. The gardens are beautiful and the pools and spa were clean, well maintained and relaxing. Our only other problem as honeymooners was that this is a family friendly resort and everytime we went to take a soak in the spa we were joined by groups of kids doing bombs in the pool! They did eventually move on!

Great service, great location, great facilities. Highly recommended!
