On the advice of staff at our accommodation we booked our great barrier reef experience through Haba in November 2006. We were thinking about going on wavelength however Haba was recommended instead due to the fact that it had a more modern boat and that the smaller wavelength boat wouldn't be so comfortable for the cruise out with the slightly choppy conditions that were expected. We had no intention of diving - snorkeling only.
Haba certainly have a very nice boat. It's very new and seems to just plough through the ocean without any problems. We visited two dive sights. It was a little bit frustrating having to wait for all the divers to go off before we (the snorkelers) could go. I almost felt as though the divers got catered for a little better than the snorkelers. The sights we went to were quite impressive - although not as colorful as I expected.
There's quite a large group of people on board and the staff are very happy to help you if you approach them.
If you're keen for great photos I recommend you hire one of their digital waterproof cameras before you leave or take your own (one with a flash). They have a photographer on board who takes a couple of shots of you which you can buy for a very large sum of money upon the conclusion of the cruise. Having your own camera would be cheaper and you'd get more photos.
It's difficult to make a fair review without experiencing a cruise from another operator however in retrospect I really would have like to try Wavelength as it sounds as snorkelers get a more personalized experience given that they don't cater for divers.
