“Face to face with a cassawary!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

If you want to see some/ all the wildlife up close and personal, this is a good hour or so to visit!
Came around a corner and there in the middle of the walking track, was a stone age bird, a cassowary, probably 7' tall, man, talk about Jurassic Park! good news is the crocodiles are enclosed!

“Fun with the animals”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

We opted to have Lunch with the Lorikeets and what a treat! We had the opportunity to get up close to the Lorikeets and amongst others a gorgeous pair of Tawny Frogmouths. It was great fun and we spent much longer than anticipated visiting the other areas of the Wildlife Habitat viewing crocs, koalas, a cassowary (up close), and even a Quoll. The staff are very knowledgeable and were happy to spend time with us chatting and answering questions. We opted to walk through the Habitat independently. NOTE: There are guided tours available. I highly recommend visiting the Habitat.

very intimate and friendly staff! Not like other zoos where its crowded and you dont really get to touch the animals. Stayed at the dougies hostel so they gave us a coupon. BOnus!

“wildlife close up and accessible”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

this brought our rainforest and grasslands visits to life as we met the various birds, mammals and reptiles. It was so good to see the animals in their protected habitats. It is a must do whilst you are in Port Douglas.

“Get in touch with the wild side!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Take your camera and a big memory card! The wildlife is so easy to get near to that you don't even need a zoom. The birds are amazing with colours so vivid that you could think they'd been dyed. And if you want to go see them all again the next day, they'll give you a card for free entry - where do they do that?
