We stayed at the Meridian earlier this month for 7 nights, and would highly recommend it. We had a one bedroom superior unit, with its own deck which opened directly on to the pool. The location was ideal, a short walk to both beach and the main shopping street. With both of these within such easy walking distance there was no need to hire a car. We caught the local shuttle bus one day which picked up/dropped off guests at many of the hotels and resorts and remained convinced that we had chosen the right accommodation.

We stayed here for a week in August, during a three week visit to Adelaide and Queensland. We were delighted to find the accommodation pristinely clean, with high quality fittings, a very comfortable bed and furniture. It was also wonderfully peaceful and within yards of the Macrossan (the main street in town) as well as the beautiful four mile beach.
The facilities were great, the hosts unintrusive, welcoming and more than willing to help with advice and bookings.
We would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a break in a quiet location, and particularly those who wish to stay in a place for adults without unnecessary noise or invasions of your privacy. It was worth every penny and we will certainly recommend it to friends and family.

From form the moment we walked in the door, everything was perfect, the warm wlecome, the bottle of something cold in the fridge, the service & the smiles.
My better half was well pleased with the apartment, faultlessly clean & an attractive outlook right out over the heated pool. Location was terrific with a pleasant stroll down to the beach in the evenings, if you enjoy fine dining, "Port" as it;'s known to the locals is pretty hard to beat, try an evening out on the deck at the "Tin Shed", cheap & cheerful & with the best outlook in town. We had a fantastic time at the Meridian, John and Sue really know their medicine when it comes to service & went out of their way to make our special weekend away from the kids something special, give it a go, you won;t be dissapointed!

My wife and I stayed at the Meridian for four nights in mid-May 2009, the beginning of the dry season. We recommend it.

The Meridian is one of the many newer properties in Port Douglas. It is a smaller and more intimate hotel, so if you want spa treatments, room service, and tennis courts you should look elsewhere. Also, it is not a service hotel, so the room won’t be cleaned unless you stay longer than we did. The Meridian is well located, just a block from Macrosan, the main street with most of the shops and restaurants. It is an attractive three story building with lush landscaping around the outside and the pool courtyard.

Our room (18B) was a corner room on the second floor and had three small balconies facing the main street and a side street. Surprisingly, though, there was no furniture on the balconies and nothing in the room could easily be moved onto them. The room was fairly large and attractively furnished with a queen bed, table and two chairs, tv stand, and two night stands. There was also a small kitchenette area with sink, microwave, and small refrigerator, and cabinet with dishes. There were two closets for clothes though the drawer space was only marginally adequate. The large attractively tiled bathroom had a shower/jacuzi tub combination, and a vanity with a fashionable bowel sink and adequate counter space for toiletries. The a.c. unit was quiet and effective.

Underground parking was included in our rate, as was use of a washer/dryer. However, internet was not included, despite what was stated on the hotel web page, in our booking confirmation, and in an onsite brochure. When we pointed this out to the management they were chagrined but didn’t offer to let us have access, and indicated they would quickly change the written information. Another matter of disagreement arose over arranging tours through the hotel. After we booked our room we received an email with offers for tours and activities with a discount for pre-paying. However, when we called a day before arriving to take advantage of the discount we were told that the tour booking must be done at least 2 weeks in advance. No mention of a time limit had been contained in the email.

Despite these administrative glitches, we found the Meridian a pretty good value and a very pleasant place to stay.

Tip: We went to the reef with Calypso and highly recommend them. Moderate-size boat, very comfortable. The crew was excellent. The three sites we went to were each unique and fascinating

We thank our guests for their informed and fair review. We always strive to exceed expectations and listen carefully to constructive criticism.
These guests are right , the balconies, although small, could use some outdoor seating and we will immediately attend to this. Administratively we are owner managers of a boutique property and are responsible for all aspects of the property - we are constantly striving to improve and appreciate guests opinions and comments
