Highly recommended.
We stayed for eight nights this month. The Peninsular is a well managed, lovely property in a great location on the beach in Port Douglas. Some 30 or so rooms and no kids.
We had room 14; first floor facing the beach; all mod cons. This is not a new hotel but the room was well maintained, clean, tidy and well furnished.
Service was just right for us. The buffet breakfast by the pool was fine and varied each day in some small way so as not to be boring . . . . The bar and restaurant were bringing in new waiting staff while we were there so the service here was a bit hit and miss at times.
Not cheap, but then Port Douglas is a fairly pricey place if you want to be in the "in" places near to town.
A wireless internet connection would be a major improvement.

From the minute we arrived we were made to feel special by the owners/hosts and this continued throughout our stay by them and their staff. No children at this hotel meant it was very quiet and we could enjoy the lovely pool/spa area in peace. The location is superb being one of only a few hotels in the area with beach frontage. A 50 metre walk had us in the middle of the restaurant /cafe area. Dining at the hotel was excellent and they serve the best cocktails. Our room was spacious with self catering facilities if needed. A great place to relax, unwind and let someone else do the worrying. Cant wait for our next stay.

We stayed here for 7 nights. Lovely hotel, with friendly staff and nice facilities. Breakfast was gorgeous. We were up early because of jetlag so had breakfast by the pool at 7am every morning, a great selection to choose from and you can have as much as you like. This was great as we went on day trips most days and this kept us going up until late lunch.

Lots of information around the reception area, chamber maid staff were so nice and did a great job keeping the place fresh and clean. There is a wash area so you can wash and dry your clothes which was brilliant and it was free of charge.

The rooms are spacious with your own kitchenette and table, with small couch and also a balcony area with another table and chairs. Bed was nice with lots of storage space and the bathrooms are amazing, the bath is HUGE, almost like your own sauna and separate shower.

The pool wasn't very private though so people having their lunch could see it all which I found a bit strange. We didn't stay for any of the BBQ nights as we went to bed early most nights.

Location is good, right on the beach, so was lovely to watch the sun rise every morning from the balcony and then go down for breakfast.

It's about a 5-10 minute walk into town where the bars and restaurants are, Port Douglas is a lovely little town and a great base for day trips for Great Barrier Reef, Hot Air Ballooning, Daintree etc.

My husband and I recently spent 7 nights at this wonderful hotel and the hardest part of the stay was leaving. The rooms are fantastic and have the best ocean views in Port Douglas. The location is opposite the beach and is very serene and peaceful. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main shopping and restaurant area so you really have the best of both worlds. It has an intimate and friendly atmosphere but also offers the same serivce you would receive in a larger resort. It was lovely and quiet with a 'no children' policy. Management and staff are great and were always friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the front has a beautiful view of the beach and is a lovely spot to have breakfast in the morning or a coffee on the very comfortable lounge chairs during the day. (Full breakfast and transfers from the airport are included in the rate). We can't wait to go back for our next holiday.

First points to note about this hotel are that it has a no kids policy, so this hotel may not be the most suitable for everyone. The second point is that although it may be a little bit more expensive than other hotels in the area, it does include free transfers from Cairns Int airport, which is a factor that has to be weighed when booking seemingly cheaper hotels.

We couldn't fault too much about this hotel during our four night stay - the location is perfect, the staff were very friendly (were more than happy to organise trips) and the breakfast (also complimentary) was excellent. The room was also perfect for what we needed, and the shower was...well I think I had the longest showers of my life there - it was that good!!

We stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon. The hotel has a perfect location (on the beach), a great restaurant and also a beautiful outdoor space. So location great, food great and room great, so what about the staff...ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, the management of the hotel truly helped this be a memorable and special stay. The level of help, support and advice they gave both for our time in Port Douglas and also for the next part of our trip to Airlee was incredible. They realy helped us and we were made to feel very special. If you are planning to stay in Port Douglas, then stay here.

My partner and I stayed here for my 50th birthday celebrations and found that eerything about the hotel was fantastic. The service was excellent. On one particular occassion when we had been out all day and could not be bothered to go out in the evening we decided to eat at the hotel, forgetting that they did not open the restaurant on a Satruday evening. However, the manager Sheryn was unbelievable - she said it would be no truoble for her to cook us a dinner which she did and bought it up to our room and sered it !! We were so welcomed and loked after brilliantly in our 7 day stay. The facitities were great and the location right on the beach front and a few minutes walk from the main shopping area. What more could you ask for would love to go back!
Thank you for a wonderful stay Sheryn and Phil
