We stayed at the peninsula for the first part of our honeymoon. We were upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi and were overlooking the pool. The staff couldn't have been friendlier showing us round on arrival and booking trips for us. We were in a pool view suite, which was generously sized with everything you could need. This is a really peaceful hotel, perfect for drinks on other balcony. The breakfast buffet had plenty of hot and cold options. The hotel is s stones throw from the beach and at the end of the main street, so its ideally located for trips to the barrier reef, pottering around town and visiting the beach. Great start to the honeymoon!

Room Tip: We had a pool view suite with a jacuzzi, I'd totally recommend the jacuzzi. Also ours was sz cor...

Dear fionademp,
We find not only our our Suites that overlook the ocean are popular but also our lovely Poolview Suites..... we dont actually have a single room in the Hotel that doesn't have a beautiful view. The Poolview Suites look out over the multillevelled pool, spa and hot Jacuzzi and up to the beautiful tree lined Flagstaff Hill. Another advantage is not only easy access to the pools from these rooms but also protection from the sometimes overzealous sea breeze and warming afternoon sun to bathe in! So pleased you enjoyed it so much and congratulations on your recent Wedding! Perhaps we can spoil you for your first wedding anniversary.
Kind Regards,

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights over New Year for my birthday. From the time we checked in we had the personal friendly service of not just showing us to our rooms but also taking us through our rooms showing us where everything was. All the staff are friendly, warm and welcoming and this is what makes this place special. If you are looking for a big spacious resort with lots of people and waiting on you hand and foot - dont go here! If you are looking for privacy, no kids, great service, friendly staff, amazing pool with buffet brekkie around it every morning, cocktail hour, wonderful views of the beach and walking distance to all shops but not in your face the minute you walk out the door.............then start booking your holiday now!

Thank you Boutique - we will be staying with you again when we come back!

Room Tip: Pick a ground floor room where you can walk out the door straight to the beach!

Dear Vicstar09,
So great to hear the passion at which you write and it certainly seems you enjoyed the Boutique Hotel experience!
From the moment you arrive on the complimentary transfers from Cairns airport, we do try and spoil you on holidays.. we know the effort and money it takes to go on holidays anywhere and to read reviews such as yours makes us so happy to know you enjoyed your stay with us!
We have the benefit of being able to book the right tours for you - even tailoring it around the weather to pick the best choice for the day right down to our friendly Hi Tide Restaurant staff remembering your name & knowing what table you like to sit at for dinner! Large chain hotel just cant offer this level of service and we are so proud we can!
We really look forward to welcoming you back again Vicstar09 - pls be sure to book directly with us so we can reward & pamper you with some extra goodies and a great rate for being a return guest with us!

We stayed for 3 nights; location is the best, rooms are clean and spacious but we think it is a bit overpriced for Europeans.
We paid €1.000 for 3 nights and in Europe i would pay around €400 for 3 nights for this level of hotel.
Of course the high Oz dollar is to blame but they should keep this in mind as expectations could be high if you pay this price.

Dear Annet E,
We really appreciate all reviews and certainly one that gives us a chance to look at everything we do.
There are lots of things that influence prices and not all are in our control of course. Perhaps you booked through a travel agent (we cant control prices that they set)? Or through one of the multitude of accommodation websites? What season did you stay - peak or off peak? As we have so many international guests staying with us, we certainly agree that the high Australian dollar is not preferable and we would do something about it if we could!
The other aspect to consider is all the complimentary inclusions that come with your stay such as full hot buffet breakfast each morning for all guests, free laundries, free return airport transfers with 3 or more nights for all guests (and the airport is approx 1 hr away!), free WIFI, plunger coffee with fresh milk, DVDs, pool towels, high quality boutique room amenities such as shampoo / conditioner / soap, aromatherapy burner, double bath or spa, exclusive beach and ocean views etc etc. Could I assume that the European hotels you refer dont offer any or all of these as part of your stay? We certainly do however keep the dollar in mind and it is also in our best interests to keep our prices as competetive as possible.
Thanks so much for staying with us and I do hope you really enjoyed your stay in our beautiful part of the world!
Kind Regards,

We've stayed at the Sheraton in Port Douglas in the past but decided on a change this time and were not disappointed.

The hotel is effectively a series of about 50 small suites owned by individuals with central services provided by the hotel management.

The rooms are well appointed with separate bedroom and lounge/kitchenette. The bathrooms are spacious and well fitted. There is a lot of attention to detail with good quality TV, DVD and other appliances. There is also a free laundry which is very helpful.

We had an ocean view suite although it has to be said that the palm trees in front of the beach effectively block the view of the ocean itself.

The significant plus side is the super friendly and helpful hotel staff who man the desk and provide the other services. They are passionate about good service and were always willing to help sort any small issues that arose.

It's worth noting that the internet in Port Douglas is slow and expensive and the system used by the hotel for allocating 'time' is not ideal for heavier users. However the hotel management were extremely flexible about this in our case and provided us with everything we needed to keep in touch with our business and family. We were most grateful for this.

The hotel is probably the best located in the town. Easy walking distance of all shops and restaurants and right on 4 Mile Beach.

As the name suggests, this is a smaller boutique hotel with a personal feel. The pool area has been superbly thought out for the space available and the other services are all there at the level needed.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again if we return to Port Douglas

Dear Bathbiggles,
Thank you for your kind words and thoughtful observations regarding your stay with us.
To read words about our hard working team such as "super friendly", "helpful", "passionate" and "willing" really reiterate to us that we have the right people in the right place! I have printed and posted your review up for all to read and to see them smile makes for a happy Hotel!
You will be pleased to know that all stays are now inclusive of WIFI and we have just updated our system to the best we can though of course we do have limitations being in regional Queensland regarding up/download speeds. Hopefully you are ou enjoying the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest or Atherton Tablelands too much for it to be a real concern! We think it is a small price to pay for being in paradise!
All aspects of your review certainly were appreciated and hopefully we will see you again.

We chose this hotel after reading previous reviews and were not disappointed. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the location could not be better. It is rare to get an ocean view in Port Douglas but here you get the view and the cooling breezes and just a short stroll to shopping and restaurants. We appreciated it being a "child free" zone especially while eating our buffet breakfast each morning and when lazing by the pool. Very relaxing. Thanks again to all the management and staff.

This is indeed a boutique hotel. Our ocean view suite was small but very comfortable, clean and well furnished. It had a lovely bathroom with an excellent walk in shower instead of the usual claustrophobic cubicle. The view from the balcony through the tropical trees to the beach and sea was delightful. The beautifully designed and planted multi level pool area was very unusual and attractive and we very much enjoyed using it. A quiet breakfast by the pool was also a great pleasure. It is an easy stroll into the small town which is very well provided with good shops and many places to eat. This is a very nice place for couples to stay and enjoy Port Douglas. We would love to have stayed longer and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as a charming quiet boutique alternative to the big resort alternatives. We hope to come back for a longer stay. Well done to all the friendly staff.

Room Tip: We really liked the view from our second floor ocean view room.

Dear William G,
It was our pleasure to look after you and glad you enjoyed the adults only feel of the Hotel and pool area (as we only cater to guests over the age of 16, the Hotel rooms and surrounds are serene and relaxing).
There are so many positives about a Boutique Hotel experience - we can tailor a personal holiday itinerary for you and all the staff get to know you personally - and it is such a joy to be able to part of guests holidays to hear the adventures of the day or even how you like your eggs cooked in the morning! Of course, lots of people like a private holiday (such as so many honeymoon couples we have staying with us) and we can flex to that too. It is your holiday after all - it should be had whichever way you like!

Pot luck Hotel choice is all we put it down too.
My partner adn I booked only 4 days prior to leaving for a quick christmas break escape and chose the hotel based on its location and other trip advisor comments and it did not fail us.
We've travelled the world and stayed in some amazing places but in terms of LOCATION = location location location. we didnt request a speial room: you dont have too! every room opens onto the beach (ocean view rooms that is) and it really was the best location, view and in ur opinion place to stay in port douglas. A stones throw from the beach and from the main strip and has the only stinger safe place in port douglas to swim - literally - across the road. Sunsets are amazing. Breakfast was great. Staff - fantastic!!!!!! helpful adn could not o enough for us! Amanda in particular! what a LOVELY lady!
Only 1 negative! - We didnt eat in their Hi Tide restaurant enough! We ate all around port douglas (breakfast lunch and dinner) and unfrotuantely only on the last day did we decided to eat at the hotel and hands down the best view and service and 'coolest' area to eat as the cool breeze comes right off the beach into the resturant so when everyone else was sweating it up in resturants (as we had been all week) it is cool here always and the food was lovely and a lot of care in preperation adn presentation. Will be staying here again next year! looking forward to it alread - thnks to the team at the hotel x

Dear kaseyt0dd,
Wow! I am sure you can imagine that reviews such as your make us smile and re-affirm to all ouf our team that we are in the right direction to help all our guests stay in this beautoful part of the world.
Our Hi Tide Restaurant is certainly such a lovely spot to sit and gaze out to the sea (the only licenced restaurant in Port Douglas with beach and Ocean views...and sea breeze). We are decidedly proud of our inhouse restaurant - with not only the views but also the great quality of choice, fresh local food and reasonable prices. Bec and her hard working Chefs were so pleased to hear the feedback so too was Amanda (and yes, she is lovely!).
Thanks so much and with cheap flights available often from Melbourne, maybe you can spoil yourself one weekend and visit us again? Return guests are particularly spoilt - be sure to book with us directly here at the Hotel for a super great deal!!
Kind Regards,
