“A relaxing place on the beach”
Reviewed October 14, 2011

This place had everything we needed.

A Boutique hotel that was relaxing, lovely clean rooms and very spacious. We ended up having an Ocean View suite with a verandah.

The staff were very helpful and cheerie - the breakfast by the pool included in the tariff so was the pick up and drop of at Cairns airport which was a bonus for us. We also enjoyed a dinner at the Hotel on the first night.

Easy walk to the main street of Port Douglas. No children under 16 are allowed so it was a very peaceful place.

Would definitely return.

Dear MissDetox,
All of our stays over 3 nights include a return on-coach transfer from Cairns airport which is an additional step our guests do not need to worry about organizing. As well as transfers, our rates include free DVD's, free newspapers and magazines, free laundry, driers and powder, fresh tropical flower arrangements in every suite, free undercover parking, free pool towels, fresh milk, plunger coffee, aromatherapy candles and wax melts in all suites, free tour booking service amongst others. By including these in your room rate, all you need to do is stay and relax. It sounds like you did just that and enjoyed our lush, tropical town as well as the Hotel services.
Thank you for your review MissDetox and so pleased to hear you went back so relaxed.

Dear Theresa C,
One of the great benefits (amongst others) about being a Boutique Hotel is that we can tailor your holidays to exactly what you wish it to be. We get to know most of our guests by name and having the benefit of having so many long term local residents with our staff, they know better than all what are the very best experiences to have in and around Port Douglas. We are blessed so so many natural and amazing things to see and do, we encourage all of our guests to stay as long as possible - just so they can get time to fit it all in!
Thank you Theresa C for coming up and enjoying not only our Hotel but our region

Next time we visit OZ, we'll make this lovely hotel our first stop and stay longer!

Friendly informative staff, wonderful food, superb pool, suite well equiped - nothing more to wish for in a "to die for" location.
Oposite the 4 mile long white sand beach and if you get a sea view suite - go to sleep with the sound of the surf and in the morning, wake up to a beautiful sunshine dawn.

Room Tip: All Suites face either Pool or Sea View.

Dear Eve R,
Thankfully your review has summarized what we strive to achieve with our Hotel - that all our guests fall in love with the area and Hotel as we have in a beautiful and relaxing environment. We are spoilt with not only being the only Hotel in Port Douglas with ocean and beach views but also great food in our oceanview licensed Hi Tide Restaurant and our wonderful staff that make us so proud each day.

We saved Port Douglas as a last stop on a three-city tour that included Perth and Sydney. Arrived late into Cairns due to flight delays and rolled into Port Douglas without reservation and completely disorientated. Schlepped around a bit but most 'hotels' seemed to close their reception desks at 7 p.m. or so, and weren't really hotels but apartment-like accommodation with minimum three-night stays. Lucky for us, Sheryn was on the desk at The Peninsula Hotel and even though she didn't have any room she helped us find somewhere for the evening. She was so helpful and cheery and welcoming, and the hotel seemed to be in such a great location, that we decided to return to The Peninsula when they had a room available -- the next night for three nights running. Hurrah! It looked as good in the morning as it had in the evening and served the best breakfast we'd had in two weeks -- hot food hot, good variety of chilled food. Rooms immaculate, spacious, cosy and with great views and filled with the perfect touches such as candles in the bathroom, a French press in the kitchen and a supply of coffee grounds and fresh milk (daily), mugs as well as cups and saucers, a DVD player, et cetera. Lovely swimming pool and lots of places to just hang out and read and relax, including the balcony of your room. Bliss.
Another computer terminal downstairs would have been helpful, as well as a faster internet connection but a small detail that I'm sure can be tweaked. Otherwise, five out of five stars. We'd highly recommend The Peninsula Boutique Hotel.

Room Tip: Top floor and facing the ocean of course!

Dear Kelly F,
So pleased we could assist you with your accommodation in Port Douglas and that you got to enjoy our Hotel for your stay.
We sat with our team and tried to re-create exactly what we would love to be offered and included if we were on our own personal holidays which has evolved into all the extra touches your kindly noticed during your stay.
Being in regional Queensland, we are always upgrading to the fastest internet service as it gets released so you will find internet speeds increasingly faster as the services are upgraded in our area. We have equipped the Hotel to be a Wireless HotSpot throughout and currently enjoy full strong signal in all areas of the Hotel - perfect for laptops, IPhones, IPads etc to stay in touch with family and friends in the comfort of your room.
Thank you again for such a positive review and hopefully we will see you back in Tropical North Queensland for another stay sometime.

On arrival to this hotel, the owner greeted us with very welcome ice cold drinks for myself and my wife. There was a complementary bottle of champagne waiting for us in our hotel room.

The room was very large with a large bathroom. There was a bubble bath here which was great. The hotel is on the beach front and the beach is fantastic.

Breakfast buffet was great every morning. We did not eat in the restaurant.

The hotel is a short walk from all the restaurants on McCrossan Street so it is ideally located for a quiet stay.

Dear CabooseIRL,
Great to hear that from the moment you walked into the Hotel, you felt spoilt and welcome. It sounds like you enjoyed the fantastic location of the rooms and the view of the white sands of 4 Mile Beach from your verandah...a great way to enjoy our beautiful part of the world.
We are fortunate to be so close to the main precinct but at the very quiet end of Macrossan Street. Perhaps the only sounds you may hear will be the ocean gently lapping the sand!
Thanks you again for the complimentary review CabooseIRL

we were greeted with friendly service a warm face towel and a glass of cold water and it only got better. the room was clean and a great size. the buffet breakfast was good always fresh and good choices. unfortunatly it was quite windy when we stay there so the beach was a no go zone but with the way there pool is set up it could be blowing everywhere and you dont feel a thing around the pool. we found that the resterant very nice as good if not better than anything in the main street that is for lunch and dinner. conveniance of eating there is a bonus especially for lunch you can sit around the pool enjoy a great feed without having to get changed. we feel the best part about the peninsula was the staff from the owners down, because the peninsula only has just over 30 rooms the staff get to know you and they go out of there way to help nothing is a problem. we would high recommend anyone staying there

Room Tip: didnt look at any other rooms ours was on th fiirst floor at the end facing the beach great room wou...

Dear spray_1970,
What a complimentary review and thank you for the feedback and comments. It is experiences such as your that make our team so happy that we could be a part of adding to a magical holiday for you.
We are fortunate to have several areas around the Hotel that either have great ocean views (such as Hi Tide Restaurant) or the funky, contemporary, multi layered pool and Jacuzzi area that we find guests can just relax and enjoy some lunch and perhaps a nice cold beer or cocktail!
We are proud of our team and they are so genuinely interested in all our guests and how to spoil them and we will be sure to pass your great feedback onto them.
Thanks again spray_1970

My wife and I stayed in an Ocean View Suite for 5 nights in September 2011. We found the balcony quite windy and noisy, however, it was a short stroll to the beach.

The buffet breakfast was the highlight of our stay but the coffee was terrible. Room service was excellent and the rooms were very clean.

Overall, the accommodation was very expensive for the inclusions and amenities provided.

Dear Francesco C,
Thank you for the time to write your thoughts regarding your stay at Peninsula Boutique Hotel and the wonderful comments regarding the breakfast, room service and the standard of our housekkeping team. I will be sure to pass on these to our great staff.
We mainly get compliments regarding the sounds of the ocean that guests can hear that most blilssfully fall asleep to - we are sorry this kept you awake. The beautiful ocean breeze we recieve is also generally well appreciated but we do conciede that as we overlook the Coral Sea, we can get days where the breeze is stronger than on others.
The highest quality Lavazza filtered coffee is included with full buffet breakfast that is included in all rates. If this is not to your liking, you also have the choice for our great Hi Tide Restaurant staff members to make you a fresh handcrafted Lavazza coffee such as Flat Whites, Cappucinos, Espressos etc for a minimal charge. I am sorry you didnt take advantage of this service which is a great way to start your touring day.
Thanks again Francesco C for your thoughts and we look forward to seeing you back with us again soon.
Kind Regards,
The Peninsula Boutique Hotel Management and Staff
