These apartments are generally nicely designed, clean and well equipped. They are also very central which is great. However, we were in room 115 and this particular room opens up directly onto the back of the pub and so is overlooked by the upstairs outdoor dining area (literally straight into the apartment). Also, all the pub aircon or possibly industrial freezer noise is going all night so when you don't have the noise of the patrons which finishes around 11pm, there is the noise of the fans. Thus you are unable to have the windows open or sit privately anywhere near the front of the apartment.

Room Tip: Don't get room 115!!

Hi Manlytraveller.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us in the heart of Port Douglas.

If you prefer somewhere quieter for your next stay please let us know as we havea variety of Mantra Resorts in Port Douglas to suit all needs.

The advantage of Mantra On The Inlet is that it is right in town , between two popular hotels so there will always be some noise due to this.

The majority of guests find that there is minimal noise heard inside the unit when the balcony doors are closed.

We looking forward to seeing you back in Port again.

Regards , Peter

Rooms were a bit stuffy during the day, and hard to get temperature right at night. Kitchen facilities very cramped. The major criticism I have relates to the internet - a perennial issue in Australian hotels, are we the only country in the world that still charges hotel guests for internet access? The website makes quite a point of the fact that internet is available in the rooms, but doesn't mention that it is not free - and in fact the whole week we were there it wasn't functioning anyway. This news didn't seem to either surprise or inspire the front desk.

Hi John A.

I am surprised that you found our large one bedroom units to be stuffy.
Guests generally find that our large timber balconies and bifold doors ensure the units are perfect for enjoying the tropical climate.
All one bedrooms have a kitchenette , not a full kitchen.

We are always happy to address any issues you may have during your stay so i am sure we would have been able to help with your internet query when you advised reception.

Regards , Peter

Very impersonal

This was originally the old Court House Hotel. A Port Douglas stalwart with a long and colourful history. It has been refurbished beautifully. The spa rooms are well worth the small extra price. Really large rooms, and ours had a huge wrap around verandah where we could sit and have nibblies and drinks whilst looking out on the inlet. Situated in the centre of Port Douglas, with free parking, its ideal. This hotel gives you a genuine North Queensland experience, and is not just another hotel with same, same features. Walking distance to everything including restaurants, coffee shops, and tour trips. The only negative is that there is no lift which could make it difficult if you don't ask for a ground floor room. We had self service check in and check out, so can't comment on service.

Room Tip: Spa rooms worth the extra money. Booked through Agoda and got a great deal.
