“Great place, accommodating hosts, comfortable rooms and great Bistro.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2010

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights and wished we had more time to stay. Most accommodating hosts helped to book tours to the Reef, Daintree Rain forest, Karanda Train and Sky Way. Good food, good rooms, great hosts. A great place to stay and rest.

The best bang for your buck in Port Douglas! The very friendly staff will make it seem like your home away from home. Each room has it's own bathroom and a sliding glass door to an outdoor patio. The rooms and bathroom are cleaned daily.
The grounds are beautiful: pool, pool table, indoor/outdoor dining, nice kitchen and an even better bistro! The food is delicious, portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. Free rides from Cairns. I would highly recommend staying here! When I come back to Port Douglas I will certainly be staying a Port O Call Lodge.

Having just toured Australia and New Zealand for 9 months, I wanted to find a good hostel where I could relax for a couple of weeks before flying home to the UK. I was attracted to Port O Call Lodge by the YHA Australia website and it has definately lived up to expectations.

The Lodge has a great relaxed atmosphere and Ryan and Janine, the new owners, are really friendly and easy going. I took advantage of the free shuttle bus from Cairns (for those staying 2 or more nights) and Ryan picked me up straight from my accomodation and gave a good commentary on the local area and attractions for the 40 minute drive up the coast and even stopped for us to take photos at the lookout on route.

The Lodge is located just out of town but it's an easy 10 minute walk direct to the centre or better still, a 20 minute walk in to town along 4 Mile Beach. I stayed in a dorm room, all of which have an ensuite bathroom and air conditioning and are clean and comfortable with daily room service. Many of the dorms have also been recently redecorated. The Lodge also has a great pool area and a tv lounge for lazy days and the Bistro is by far the best quality and best value in town with a great selection of meals - you know it's good if the locals eat there!

Port Douglas is quite an upmarket resort town with plenty going on for its small size. It's easily the best place to base yourself for the Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation and Port O Call Lodge is definately the best budget option for the area. I would certainly recommend it to anyone coming to North Queensland and want to thank Ryan and Janine for making my final days in Oz go by so easy!

Me and my best friend stayed at Port o Call Lodge when we went to Port Douglas. It is located about 15min walking distance from the main street and only 5min from the 4miles beach.
We booked a package with them, including the cape tribulation and daintree forest tour, the great barrier tour with HABA( best companie ever, the crew is AWESOME), and free transfert from Cairns and back to Cairns.
We stayed in a room for 4, which has an ensuite bathroom. It is very clean, and the beds are great. There is a kitchen were you can cook your meal if you want, a tv room and even a pool. This place is very good, and I highly recommend it. The place also has a great restaurant, and the meals are very good. good value!!!
Also the staff is very helpful and great. You will not find better. Port Douglas is a bit expensive and this place was really in our budget. We had a great time
